It's about a 40 foot run, all the way across the house and I would probably have to go through the attic so add another 20 feet at least. Is 60 feet doable with a serial cable? DB9 is the only cable I see that runs that long, not sure if thats the right connection though, haven't used a serial cable in ten years.

The cutter will need to be in a different room than my computer and from reading it doesn't seem like a wireless print server will work properly with the cutter. So I'm thinking of buying an old laptop, like a pentium 2 or 3, to hook up to the cutter and use to print from. Will this work? Can I get the file ready on my primary computer and then just transfer it to the laptop for cutting?
