  1. My son has become interested in one of my hobbies which is flying remote controled aircraft. he has become obsesed with downloading plans for airplanes he finds on the internet. these are ussually available in pdf form as the full plan or tiled for letter size paper that we then print out on our printer, some times as many as 26 sheets of paper, that then have to be cut out and taped together. this becomes extremely time consuming. could a full pdf be vectorized into something that my laserpoint 24 with signblazer could print with the pen? if so how would I go about vectorizing something like this? just the outline of the parts, none of the text.

how to set a custom material size?

I do plan on getting some regular paint mask rolls once I get the hang of this (guess I should have poted this in the sign blazer forum

how to set a custom material size?

Thanks for the advise, I'm using sign blazer elements. and I'm just playing with some small masks for painting. that's exactly why I want to do a custom size in sign blazer, so I can see how my design will be setup on such small material. I'm used to spending hours hand cutting these and it's great to know that not only can I cut these in seconds in the cutter, but I can make duplicates of my most used masks in seconds
  4. I have my new laser point all set up and did some cuts using some of the items and fonts that are found in the library? icon soat least I know I have all of my settings and connections correct. The main use of this cutter will be to make paint masks for airbrushing. as of right now I only have some vinyl frisket material from grafix that I will be using as I learn how to vector images.the sheets are 8.5"x 11". I saw in the users manual how to change to different roll sizes of material. can I set an 8.5" x 11" custom size in this machine?
  5. I just recieved my new lp cutter. I have the stand assembled and cutter mounted, just have a few questions. 1 does the roller with the keepers (round metal discs) go in the rear adjustable holes of the stand or the front fixed holes of the stand? 2 do the rubber o-rings go on the outsides of the keepers and are they used to hold the keepers against the roll of material? 3 I will be using a laptop that does not have a serial connection, would I eliminate a lot of problems by purchasing a usb to serial adapter? (I want to get this setup the best way the first time) 4 if I use the usb to serial adapter, will I need to install the usb drivers on the cd, or can I just follow the instructions for serial connection that says no drivers need to be installed? I know these may be really basic questions, but I never used anything like this before and I'm not completely computer literate, so I have a steep learning curve ahead of me.
