    Hexis Hx 20000 Wrap woes

Just to further explain. The material says " The pressure-activated HEX'PRESS adhesive allows you to slide and reposition the film over the surface of the vehicle until you apply firm pressure ". When I place it on the surface, it sticks hard like 751 dry on glass. Any thoughts on why? Could it be humidity, old stock material, or something else I'm overlooking? Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated. I'm feeling burned out of a couple hundred at the moment.
  2. Good evening folks, I'm currently trying to wrap my car with some Hexis HX 20k wrap I purchased from the US cutter sale. I'm pretty much a novice, but have done bumpers before with 970RA and had no issues. I need some help because when I am placing down the hexis wrap vinyl (even extremely gently) it is STICKING and not coming back up without major effort and stretching. The surface was cleaned properly and the temperature of application was between 80F and 72F (When I finally called it a night). Anyone have any clue as to why I can't get the wrap vinyl to come or pop up like 970 did and the videos show Hexis is supposed to?

    Motorcycle Job

Get some wrap vinyl like Oracal 970 or Hexis HX 20000. Wrapping a tank can be challenging even with wrap vinyl because it is nothing but complex curves. 751 Is not going to work on a tank. It is possible to wrap *something* with 751 as a "poor mans" wrap, but its totally the wrong material and only good for flat surfaces.

    cooling fans on the computers

Always a good idea, especially if you have your computer in an enclosed area. Also, make sure you clean out dust every couple months. There are intake filters you can buy at newegg cheaply if your case does not have them. I tend to use Panaflow or Scythe brand fans. You can get cheap sleeve bearing fans at the fry's or micro center, but they die every couple of years.

    My Install this weekend.

I noticed that you have to wait a while anytime you use Windex or Simple Green. I think you probably did wait though. I did a church sign install on glass a few weeks back that had some kind of coating that my 651 sample was not sticking to well. Also, my app fluid was literally sheeting off in a second or two.

When was the last time you did a backup?

https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-reliability-stats-q1-2016/ Check out this data from an online storage company about the failure rate of OEM mechanical drives in a high use environment. It pretty much mirrors what I have seen in my personal experience. Seagate drives (especially external) are prone to failure. That's why they are not warrantied for long at all. Backblaze has these drives very well cooled. Your normal external drive runs a lot hotter and that decreases the longevity markedly.

When was the last time you did a backup?

Once a month to be honest, but I trust my SSD's not to fail. If you purchase a Crucial or Samsung Solid State Drive, they rarely rarely have problems if they are not DOA. At a cost of $50 for a 250gb SSD, its kind of hard not to go that route unless you do video etc.
  10. Thanks mate. You join the acceptable man love list which includes Patrick Stewart and Sean Connery.
  11. I'd appreciate the files for a 1999 ford escort 4dr sedan. I'm actually going to wrap it seeing as I've kept it going this long and have grown attached. Would be nice to mock up the graphics. Thank you!
  12. There is a Roland "Stika" 15" cutter on ebay that might fit your needs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roland-Stika-SX-15-Vinyl-Cutter-/222153394653?hash=item33b95fc9dd:g:hQUAAOSwMNxXYJM0
  13. Wide area "trap" application like this is a disaster without someplace for the air to go or air-egress vinyl. Solid areas over 6" wide tend to be rough and you need impeccable technique. Compounded with using home brew and no application tape, it's probably not going to be a successful endeavor. Aside from that, I'd substitute the dish detergent with baby shampoo and use part 90% iso-alcohol.
  14. I picked up a Graphtec Craft robo pro 4-5 years ago for around $500. CE-5000-40. A very good mobile cutter for the money. Just remember most of these mobile cutters have awful tracking, even when you bring an app-roller.

    cutting paper

You may need to cut a sheet off of the roll, which will help with the bunching. Make sure you arent cutting your cutting strip and that there is something beneath the paper like a carrier.

    Decals on plastic...

651 is basically a better version of the Greenstar. Yep. You can also use 651 on walls, but you will probably tear the paint or drywall coming off.

Everything looks great, but your logo is creepy as hell inversed.

    Decals on plastic...

631: Indoor, doesn't take good paint with it. 651: Outdoor, medium lifespan. Doesn't conform well to rivets etc. 751: Outdoor, long lifespan. Conforms well to curves and rivets. 951: Outdoor, very long lifespan. Also conforms well to curves and rivets. All of the outdoor vinyls can also be used indoors almost indefinitely. Look up Calendared (651) and Cast (751 & 951)Vinyl. Good luck.

    pressure washer

Id look past 651. Its a thicker vinyl that can crack in the heat and doesn't conform as well as cast. I'd think that the dispersion and distance of the pressure washer is going to matter a whole lot. Look more into 751/951. They are thinner at least and more resistant to heat damage. Maybe make a sample decal for them to run through a few times

    CE5000-120

Own two CE5k series. Always change the speed manually/physically on the cutter. There is a "Condition" button on the front panel. Navigate over to cut speed and lower that. Fine tuning on tangential emulation etc can be done through the graphtec program, but I don't think outside programs can influence cutter settings.

  22. Are you transferring the white outline, or are they going to be installing it? Applying application tape to something 22 foot long has to be a royal PITA

    Decals on plastic...

If its a lifetime table, they are pretty bumpy and not receptive to placing a decal on them. I suggest you get one of the whiteboards at Home Depot and have them cut it for you. You can finish the edges with white electrical tape http://www.homedepot.com/p/32-sq-ft-96-in-x-48-in-Hardboard-Thrifty-White-Panel-Board-709106/207127368 Cheap, looks decent. You can't replace decals, but you can throw it out and not cry.

    Adhesive removal

It's pretty good at removing a small recent mistake. On a larger issue, it leaves some adhesive behind like you noticed. It is actually in PVC pipe weld from Oatey. It can also fuse 3D printed ABS parts together, lol. Like everyone said, make sure you use it outdoors. Also keep it in a cool place or refrigerator. The boiling point is like 100 degrees if I recall.
