AI will not open in Sign Cut
charlie_b CFXPaintworks replied to eharris's topic in Adobe Illustrator
ok...for one thing, it is NOT vectorized. It is saved as an AI file, but if you select it, only the outer box is hilighted. You need to LIVETRACE the image in order to get signcut to cut it. When i get my laptop open, i will test it out and see if the issue is fixed. -
Greetings Nancy. If they are all in jpg format, yes, you can convert them in Signblazer to a vector format(eps) to allow you to cut them out. Charlie

Jayfil, Welcome buddy! What i recommend is making your design in photoshop in HI RESOLUTION. That way you can get the perfect edge. 300 DPI is the best, but you can get away with 150 DPI if you are only doing text. Remember to do your graphics with NO fades or gradients or even shadows because when you vectorize them, it will translate to unclean lines. One you get your design, save as a jpg or a gif format, then import it using Sign Blazer(included software), vectorize then cut. I don't have my laptop out for the bag at the moment, but if you can not figure it out, just post here of PM me and i'll give you a step by step.

charlie_b CFXPaintworks replied to SynFX's topic in General discussion
How about this idea. In a bold font, "THIRSTY?" And have different beers from domestic to imported. The more exotic compared to the standard beer, the better. I heard there are some that are even named "Santa -

I know..can you tell i'm loving it? Anyway, this is the design for my rc team. Since they are all painters and race, i figure it was only right to have a "Racing Airbrush" as my logo. Anyway, here it is. Did i say i'm loving the LP??

You definitely can't go wrong with that price...even if it wasn't all that great..$20 won't really kill the pocket. The only thing about smaller tablets is that they are more twitchy. It's like comparing a cheap laser mouse to a high end gaming mouse...the high end gaming mice are a lot smoother when you move it around on your screen due to more resolution. In any rate, this is still a good buy. I used 6x9 tablets at school and once i used a 9x12, it was not eve close. I have had mine for 8 years and still kicking butt.

When ideas pop in...

Here ya go. -
Sorry to hear about that Grace. Here is what i recommend. Find your niche...where it is magnetic signs, banners or plain decals. Once you found what you like working with, start getting your friends involved by having them network for you. Let them know they know someone starting out in the sign and decal business and if anyone needed anything to use your business card. Once you get a good clientele, then you can expand to other things. Your friends are your best means of advertisement. Another thing is use your vehicle as an advertising tool. Believe it or not, people write your number down when they drive. The best way to get something going is jumping in fully. You have all of us for any other advice..just ask. Charlie

Putting my New LP to work...
charlie_b CFXPaintworks replied to charlie_b CFXPaintworks's topic in Show your work
Troy...Drifting is really big here in Cali. The RC Drift scene is equally as big. All you really need to convert a sedan chassis to drift is the wheels and tires. Everything else(intercoler, exhaust, high downforce wing) you can add on later. HPIRACING.COM sells them as well as Yokomousa.com. -
