These are facinating and I keep reading them but, realized I never made an entry Pensacola, Florida
-
Looks like the worse part is the west/gulf coast of south Florida. So you "should" just get thunder storms for several hours. Still tropical and not hurricane and hope it stays that way and keeps moving on (not stop in gulf for hours....)

Tornados? When hurricane Ivan hit here (Florida panhandle) there were some 130 tornados reported just east of us in Ft. Walton/Panama City area. The last one we stayed for was Erin in 1996.......now it's off to Tennesse when there is even a slim chance of more than Cat-I comming into the Pensacola area. In the eye of Erin, I went out and put the top back on my chimney and secured it with everything I could. In the eye is very very strange.....especially when the storm lasts 20 hours or so.

Joe, That little tutorial is also pretty good for the bezler tool in Corel. This are a little different but, basics are very similar

Grace, Don't know how many shutters you have but, unless you are in the keys, you should see a few breakes to get some put up. I'm up in the panhandle and checking it every morning & evening. It's not "supposed" to get over this far but, cars are full and supplies ready. Our prayers are with all in its path. Check-in with us when you're clear. Regis

I have to depict Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze at the top of 5 columns. I can use diamond & bar symbols but, does anyone have suggestions about color? Especially differenciating gold & bronze and platinum & silver. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated. Regis

Life would be so much better if ......everyone on forum would put at least their state or country(outside USA) in their profile... Life would be so much better if ...... we'd get some cool nights like 70 instead of 85 at night

Right Brain v Left Brain. What one do you use most?
RegisG replied to Kittycut's topic in Off Topic Section
That works for me too. Clockwise when I read. Close eyes, imagine anything and when I open, anti-clockwise -
I have a job to fit a sign between 2 metal poles 20" apart and about 30' high. Customer/friend wants a 10-12 foot tall sign between the poles and try to keep cost down(couple hundred). Would a banner last for a few years? Or are they only good for less than a year? It's hot here in northern Florida. How long will a banner last outdoors? Thanks, Regis

Need some pretty basic pricing advice please
RegisG replied to EHovind's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
It is not time consuming to print the decals (as opposed to cut & weed 100 very small decals). One or five tiney decals is one thing but, 100?? Give the printer the file ready to print and it will save him time and add value to what you charge. Regis -

Very time consuming for 100 of those tiney letters.. That's a good project to make a deal with a local vinyl printer. He should give you a discount if you are going to bring him some repeat business that he would not normally get. You will always get some work that you can not do and you don't want to just refer the customer out (to never be seen again). So, you only make a little on this job, next one will be better and you are serving your customer and building a relationship with another sign maker. I'd charge $40-$45 per hour to actually do the work and then estimate the hours. my 2 C's -
It was Levi on Aug 8th. "Claimed" to be doubling tech support. Is there such a thing as a tech support mirage? Ya know....sort of wavy and hazy on the horrizon.....but, really isn't there.

Credit Card for Business to Business??
RegisG posted a topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
For a retail to the public, I believe credit card processing is a must. BUT, for those that do business primarily with businesses, what do you find is mostly used? Credit Cards or checks? I'd appreciate anyone's insight. Regis -
Joining this late but, from down here in hurricane country, we'd just put the hurricane box in the car and head north! Has the important memories, photo's, and documents. If there's time, grab a laptop.

I have to add my appreciation for folks here. Like many, I joined after ordering my PCUT (a couple months ago). I'm pretty computer and graphics savy but knew ZIP about cutters. I've learned everything I know about cutters right here.....and a lot more about graphics software. When you are in a one-person shop, having this forum is like have a staff of help when you need it. Now, if I could only figure out how to get one of you to hold the tape at the other end of the table for me... Thanks to all!

I've been using Corel 12 since it came out and just bought X3 (same $85 deal) a couple weeks ago. It is sitting in my desk drawer. After loading InkScape, I didn't even bother to load X3. Now, you just gave me a reason to load it. Thank you Regis

Thank you John. It sounds like one year might be upper limit to expect. Then that's out...off to plan B Regis

If I airbrush some gradients on a sign along with vinyl letters what paint should I use? The 651 vinyl is good outdoors for several (up to 6) years so the paint has to also hold up. Is there a satifactory water-based paint? Do you UV clear coat the whole sign? Thanks, Regis

I need to cut the attached Bee in 3 colors. BUT, I can only get clean in b/w (in SBE) or many colors (with Corel 12 trace). Can someone help with this one please? Thanks, Regis

Yep, thesignexpert.com does seem low on small dimensions. I need to look into that magazine you quoted. Thanks

There sure is a big difference between RTape Conform and Conform Clear. I expected it to just be easier to see through but, it is like a totally different product. Conform Clear is a lot tougher and thicker. It streches and doesn't tear easily by hand like regular Conform. It does seem to release about the same and definately comes off in one piece. I think I will be using it for layering only, which is why I bought it.
