    Weeding?

Just watched a weeding video. The lady pulled/weeded a large sheet (24" X 36" perhaps) leaving LOTS of small letter. Then went about process of picking (the insides of letters)with a pick. I the picking was a good lesson for me but I could not understand how she pulled that large sheet off all those tiney letters. Have I been causing myself difficulty by having "weed all", "weed each copy", and "easy weed" all turned on? Looked like she pulled the whole sheet then took on the internal letter parts. Appreciate any tips

    multi-layered logo

Very nice Lori, Did you do the initial layering wet? Or, dry? After the transfer tape, did you apply to car wet? Thanks, Regis
  3. There is a lot of help on the internet about starting a business but, you MUST make a business plan. The plan needs to include things like: - What do I need to buy - Where is my workspace and storage - How will I market - ads, phonebook, flyers, friends, internet - how much to spend - How will I learn machine/software/application/installation - How will I deliver - Can I set fixed/dedicated hours - What licensing/tax issues -.........and much more Equally important is CAN I do my plan? I agree with fivestar's $500 for cutter & startup supplies. But your marketing would need to be almost free like, word-of-mouth or flyers. If you intend it to be a business, you must treat it like a business, not a hobby. Including record keeping, professional quality work, communications/marketing skills, and realistic timeframe. Don't "count" on internet sales unless you have a way for people to find you amoung the many. Best of luck and fortune. Regis
  4. I am setting up a web site and would like some of your thoughts about graphics. I've seen web sites that are so overwhelmed with graphics that you can not find products/services. I'm trying to make a site that I can advertise locally for folks to contact me to give them quotes. I've only done 5 "for customer" signs so I'm pretty new and don't have a collection of photo's to post in a gallery. What are your thoughts about web site with no or few photo's? I'm thinking of trying for "Business" look as I expect to only be doing business related not shirt type signage(PCUT only & no press). I won't have a brick&mortar location so I'm counting on mail-outs, flyers, cards, talking to people & referals. BTW, I was supprised to find that there are a lot of great domain names still available. I registered www.Kool-Signs.com a couple days ago and was really supprised how many available names there are. If you go to my site, please remember I've just started it. Thanks, Regis
  5. I'm still struggling with some weeding issues. As I pull weeding back (at low angle) some almost always sticks to area that I'm working through. I do you keep it from sticking to these parts? I've thought of maybe trying some powder on fingers and generally on what I'm weeding. But, I really don't know if that will add different problem. How do you do it neatly without everything sticking??? Thank you, Regis
  6. QUOTE: "Use a razor blade to cut off sections of the weeding around." Thank you firemalt. I'm not feeling very smart right now for not thinking of that myself [lol]. I just kept ending up dragging stickey vinyl and :'( :'( . That will sure take care of me until I get better at this Thanks again, Regis

    Hello to all

Welcome. Lots of answers here and great folks.
  8. I am trying to stick to one kind of vinyl with the idea that it would be most consistant while I'm learning. I'm using Oracal 651 and did fine until today. I was cutting blue then black and had a problem on the black with 1/2" letters. When I weeded, the cuts were not always though the vinyl and of course much much harder to weed. Messed up a couple. Do different colors cut differently. I am on my original 45 degree blade (2+ weeks old). Is this likely an issue with the small size font, the color, or the blade (type & adjustment)? I'm reluctant to just adjust or change blade without have a fair idea that it is the problem. I do have 60 degree blade inhouse. Thank you, Regis (weeding my way through the learning curve)

    Some questions

After reading some of the questions asked here I am reminded of a time long ago. I was a tech and then managed tech support group through the transitions from terminal/host to pc(dos) to pc (windows) to lans. There were a LOT of people that had difficulties just like what we read here. Worst was the "mouse". People that could type absolutly hated it and simply could not grasp the concept of moving and selecting with the mouse. When the 1st PC's went out to public, the #1 trouble call to EVERY company was "My computer doesn't have an any key and the book says press any key! Well, a little humorous reminders that some things don't change much (when we're introduced to new products). Regis ....... who's fingers keep sticking to viny and making a mess

    Software Serial Number?

No such number in or around my CD. I still have everything that came with my PCUT (including the box). There is "Thank you"/ setup letter, a CD (probably drivers), a User Manual, and a 3 part card mostly in Chineese(?). One place says email: pcut.... and a 12 digit number below it....but all other words are not in English I don't understand it. I have been using the demo/eval copy of SBE that I downloaded and it works fine. Hopefully sometime SB will work out the registration issue so we can just open the s/w but, it is not bad temp solution. Regis

    siser ez weed?

Tracee, Where are you finding this "siser ez weed" I've done some google searches without result. Is this just the "metalic like" or wide variety of colors? I'm small too but, would buy one roll if it is "supposed " to weed very easy (for us new folk). Thank you, Regis

Large Banner on Small work table?

Thanks guys.... glad I don't need a 16' table in my 20' room [lol] Regis
  17. On larger banners, how do you apply vinyl? Is there a correct process....e.g. all same color or sectioned in some way. Surely most everyone gets an order larger than the work table they have. How do you handle it? Thanks, Regis

Question about drawing a box or a circle

As far as I know, everything you actually create with SignBlazer is vectoized. Weh you go to the cut screen, your square will show up. Otherwise, you'll get an error/warning message. Regis
  21. Use Setup icon at top of screen (you may have to scroll the icons) Also when you start "New" you can choose the size. Hope that helps

Making a sentence curvey in win pc

In Sign Blazer Elements just use Distort (arc up/down) for each half of the sentence. Then stretch to fit your need.

    Another Bubble Question - Help

What do I need to learn to prevent small bubbles. I know I probably should do only wet as a beginner but, what causes the bubbles in dry applications? Is it going to fast or missing squeeging some tiney areas or what? I want to be able to do both wet AND dry where necessary. Will heat gun shrink bubbles? Or, is pin & squeege the only way? Just did a 24 X 36 sign in 3 parts (dry) and have probably 30+ tiney pin head size bubbles. Is there a better way than pin/squeegee? Thanks Regis .... learning....learning

    Another Bubble Question - Help

Well, I'm convinced. Continue practice AND ordered Big Squeegee. I don't think that Big S will help on slightly convex windows and panels of cars/trucks so still have to be able to use smaller squeegee. Thanks all, Regis
  25. Is Oracal translucent suitable for automobile rear windows? Can you see through it well enough? Or, is there another type or product more suitable (that can be cut & applied like vinyl)? Thanks, Regis ....... who is getting ready to put a sign ad on the back of my CR-V....
