  1. Sounds to me like they figured their pricing correctly for that job. They are trying to make a living and $49 hardly puts bread on the table.

I am assuming that they have used this sign company in the past and they probably always come through for them and give them good quality and on time work.

I for one will be happy to pay a little more for something for my business if I know that I will get what I want. I am not in any way saying that you couldnt do just as good a job for them but most people dont want to risk changing to someone different and possibly getting a crap job done.

As for the conflict of interests thing, what it comes down to is if they agree to use you and they do not like the quality of your work they have 2 choices which are to not use you anymore and risk making your husband angry with the company or continue to use you and not be happy with your work which will in turn make the company not happy with your husband.

For me that is rule #1. Never ever do business that in any way shape or form involves family.

It never turns out well in the end.

  2. So I am thinking about doing some craft shows and large flea markets locally but not sure what to sell.

I don't want to be cutting vinyl while I am there, just want to bring pre made stuff with me to sell.

I also don't want to sell decals. I am thinking more along the lines of tiles and stuff like that.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this sort of thing?

  3. No you do not need to take anything off. The capping station is the plastic part with the foam pads that the heads sit on when the printer is not printing. push the print heads to the left towards the center of the printer, take the soaked cloth and put it over the capping station then push the heads back to the capping station so that the cloth is between the heads and the capping station. Splash a little more cleaning fluid on the cloth every 20 min or so just to keep it nice and wet.

    There are no stupid questions.

I would take pictures or a video if I still had my mutoh to show you.

Here is the mutoh websites instructions on it. http://www.mutoh.com/kb/entry/137/

  4. We usually do trade show stuff on 13oz unless the customer requests otherwise.

I think that the 651 will be fine for that job, just make sure the customer knows not to store the banners in a place that the temp gets extreme for a long period of time. Vinyl will expand and contract in extreme temps and if rolled up  could cause issues.

I think going with a pre grommeted banner would make things easier on you but of course buying a roll will be less expensive.

  5. Take some cleaning fluid, soak a lint free rag with it and place it on top of the capping station then gently push the heads over the capping station until they are all the way over. Put something heavy in front of the carriage to hold the heads in place there and let them soak for about an hour. Then run a test print and see if that helped.

  6. Anyone here from NJ interested in doing installs on an as needed basis?

I am getting really busy and I just cant do it all myself right now so I figured I would see if anyone here might be interested in making some extra $ when I need some help?

I am posting here because I would like to have a few people with some experience/knowledge of signs and lettering.

Let me know if interested and we can talk more about it.

    Thanks

Not sure if this is in the wrong section or if it is not allowed. I apologize in advance if it is.

  7. I understand why you are thinking that. I guess what is confusing me the most is why do they insist on calling it a "Banner" and they are saying that it can be easily snapped on and off, rolled up for storage and changed. Your not going to roll up a piece of plexi.
