I'd have to say that this is a very nice group of people. I have only had my cutter for one week today....joined here a few days before it arrived. I have had my fair shared of "confusion states" and someone has always helped me out. I have learned so much already, seems like more than a week. Welcome!!!!!

So my first "real job" is stopping over tomorrow. He doesn't know what he wants for colors. His stockcar is red with black hood and decking and wants color reccommendations for the numbers for the doors and roof. Didn't sound too interested in black. I have a place less than a mile from me that I can buy most any color by the yard (Arlon series 5000-39 colors) So options are nearly unlimited. He sounded like he wanted 2 color numbers and nothing real fancy, no holographic or "bling-bling" stuff.

Really slow day here at my "real job", it's sunny outside and 3pm won't be here quick enough.

I too am a newbie so I am sure there are much more qualified answers, but you need to convert it to a vector file. I don't have the skills to do that myself very well yet (hopefully I'll learn) but you can do it with Inkscape(free download) or VectorMagic.com (pay site)

I have that question too....I registered/activated yesterday morning and nothing here yet either.

So I got my cutter on Thursday afternoon, and had to work all day Friday So here is my first project that we did today. Airbrush.....ppppffftttt!!!!!! no me...I can't hardly draw a stick person. I'll stick to the vinyl for now, I am far from good at it yet.

Thanks everyone....... Those pictures were taken at my drivers house in a mediocre taken care of lawn, my yard whicih on the other hand is heavily fertilized is so green and growing like crazy, which is strange because we too just had snow a couple weeks ago and actually had flurries in the forecast for last night. I am having alot of fun cutting. What's there to do when you run out of ideas of things that need graphics?

And BTW..thanks to everyone that helped me with everything to get this done in time for the race tonight, which was cancelled due to weather.

And the ugly neon yellow "94"'s on the door we bought before I ordered my cutter and my driver put them on (not very well)

OK...just got my cutter, go the stand together and all seemed to be going well....until...I have no clue how to install the blade. I thought I put the blade in the holder, undid that screw knob on the front and it looks like it should slide in there and screw back around it to hold it in place but the holder is WAY to long to fit. Help!!!!

The parallel port was set to ECP, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the port...it just didn't like it. So this morning I tried the USB connection, expecting problems....and yippee...it works. Of course I got it to work about 10 minutes before I had to leave for work, so now I can't wait to get home and cut, cut, cut. (And learn better vinyl conservation because I sure took alot of vinyl to cut 2-6" numbers)

Settings seem to be all set up right. It trys to send the file...and after about 5 min I get an error message "Can not open the output device. Cannot initialize cutter." (My port is set to Blazer.LPT1, Baud Rate 9600)

Trying to use the 26 pin cable......with LPT1 I think is right?

I finally got that.......I was trying to put the blade holder down in the groove in the bracket not just resting on top of it.... Got the test square cut, not connectivity issues Not sure where to set the port, etc as I downloaded the software a week ago and picked some random info.

The blade holder bracket does move up and down but it is all the way aup and then some.....before the blade even thinks about moving.

That isn't the issue....I am having a hard time explaining....the cutter holder(not sure if that is what it's called, but the little plastic and silver and gold thing that holds the bland will not fit into the bracket....it is too long to fit in the bracket. If I take the caridge off the track and put it in the bracket then try to replace the caridge it is dragging so hard on the vinyl it won't move( not the blade, the black plastic part of the holder.

I just ordered my Refine today and downloaded the SignBlazer Elements trial, thinking I could get a jump start before the cutter arrived.....needless to say I am totally lost. Hopefully I will get it in time.

According to the Fed Ex site my cutter is "out of delivery" I am getting impatient I have several files ready to cut already....someone tell the Fed Ex guy to speed!!!! Bad thing is looks like it is going to beat my vinyl here so I will have to run to the local place and buy some.

I am looking for suggestions for an inexpensive vinyl that comes in a wide choice of colors. I am doing graphics for our stockcar and will probably have a fairly short life. I see there are many on here doing racecar stuff, what works the best??? Thanks in Advance!
