Old Harley in metallic gold and silver

Try using bezier to trace, instead of autotrace.
  3. I just finished this piece. It took half a day to work it up,and another three hours to plot and finish out.It really turned out well with a sharpie poster paint gold and a fine silver.I ran the bags, seat, and handle grips in brown to complement the gold.It took almost an hour for the flexi program to seperate the colors.I started out with a 16 colors design, and stripped it down to 6 colors. Yes,but I would uncheck - advance after plot.It keeps you from losing your registration if you have to restart. You may also want to run a weed border for cut lines to matte and frame out.

You have to set it to fill plot in the advanced tab of the production manager. You have to slow it down to 12 or 16 i.p.s. because faster speeds will dry your pens out and you'll have uneven lineage. It is also very time consuming. Most of the larger ones I have done ran between 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    Spinner sign on coroplast

This is a spinner sign I made for my guitar parts company.IT's around 15 x 18 with red vinyl on white coroplast.I ran a rod trough the vertical flutes, then bent the ends 90 degrees and mounted it to a block of one by.I hung it about 7 feet high on the north corner of our house. We had a cold front come in the days I hung it,and that sucker was flying! The coroplast makes it light enough to spin it with very little wind. And the flutes are perfect for making a spinner sign, either vertical or horizontal. You just have to remember how you are going to mount it and make sure the flutes are in the right direction when you mount the vinyl. 7. That's good!I don't want my 50" gettin' banged around when I order it.I've seen the delivery drivers actually kick the boxes off of their truck at the warehouse where I get my guitar parts. And I saw an older post woman at a post office near me,who either at one time in high school,or maybe it was just dementia, thought she was a basket ball player, and she tossed a box from the three point line at the counter. She should have gone for two, because she was a little short, and you could hear glass shatter inside the box.

    Spinner sign on coroplast

Thanks Marcel.I'm going to cut a couple more designs for t-shirts this week.I'll post them when I finish them.I am also going to try engraving this week,or next week.I'll let you know how it goes.
  9. When I boot mine up,it boots with 24 i.p.s. and 100g downforce everytime.I just have to make a mental note to check the settings before I cut or plot.I did the art with the cutter. Most of them were ran in the advanced tab in flexi as a single job-send all colors-pause after each color. That gives you a chance to change the pen to the next color. And when you send it as a single job,you never move the product you're plotting on.Just remember to seperate the overlap before you send it to plot,or you will have your colors printing on top of each with a solid pattern. It doen't show you that in the preview before plotting. You also have to slow it down when you are plotting. If you run it at 36 -48 i.p.s.,it will run faster than the pens can supply the ink to the tip. Thanks!I'm glad you like my work.If you have made impressive cuts, you should post some pictures in the tips and tricks section.

    Spinner sign on coroplast

It would actually be something you could sell as an eye catcher for a small business,or one that is hard to spot going down the road.
  11. Just one more good reason to buy the warranty! You never know what will happen in the shipping,or in the making of the machine. So it's wise to spend the small amount of money to cover the warranty just in case.

You're welcome.Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    blade position

You can use it in either position.I use the one closest to the head track for cutting. And when I plot,I usually go with the one to the outside.

    SighLab

You can use the 721 with almost any program. It uses the roland pnc1000 driver, which is one of the universal drivers most of the sign programs have all ready installed.
  15. It should interface with your wirless print server just like a regular usb connection.

    how & where do i get a 4gb upgrade ?

I have done fairly large cuts. And plots that run over an hour and a half.I have had no problem with the one meg of memory in the cutter.I want the 4 meg upgrade as a buffer to insure I don't have any problems with the larger jobs.If you use the holographic films for a large job,and the cutter reads a write port error, your only option is to restart the job.Although I have not had that problem,I want to never have that problem.I can't tell you if there is a benefit to it beccause I have not recieved the memory yet.And as far as I know noone has done a 4 meg upgrade.I will post as soon as I get it to let everyone know if it helps and how easy or hard it is to install.
  17. I use 7.5.It the 3rd tool down in the left side.
  18. Oh it's much worse than that!If you do use the point editor, try not to overlap too much because it will actually put a negative area in the space on some lettering and edges. And be sure to blow it up as big as you can on the screen. It looks good and closed up when you are looking at a 6 foot design scaled down to fit a 19 inch screen. But when you blow it up you get a better view of what the cutter is actually going to cut.
  19. Another reason to use the point editor. When I pull a point and close a letter or a circle,I know the cutter is going to cut without spacing.
  20. I stay up until four in the morning 7 days a week running R2.I use all of the excess from the rolls I buy to do the jobs instead of saving it for the next job. You're right,it's very addicting. We'll probably have to start a cutterholics anonymous with a 12 step motor program.
  21. If you check -auto weld and auto trap - in the advanced tab of the program manager,it should help on closing the lettering.Although I use the point editor from the design menu and manually close the lettering. It just cuts down on the program missing sending the close commands to the cutter. On the other question.I clean the vinyl to cut down on the dust, but I've never heard of lubing the vinyl.I would think that anything like that would make the knife jump or skip if it hits a slick film on the vinyl.
  22. I have cut as small as 3/16 th's with no problem other than trying to see the small centers when I weed it out.It could be possible that it is the vinyl. The company I buy from locally has had to replace quite a few rolls of fdc black vinyl that their customers ordered because the rolls had mottling in them. But I have had no problems with the small letters or designs as far as the cutter goes.
  23. I had noticed that Marcel had not been on the board this morning.I thought he was just kicking back on friday. But I have read that severe storms had knocked out power in washington and oregon.I just thought I would inform the forum,in case the storms have shut down the power to uscutter.
  24. Yeah, tray that out and let me know how it works.
  25. It makes you want to pimp slap the monitor when that happens!I think you want to use the dmpl.I think the hpsl has something to do with hewlet/packard.
