Runs off with a long line

Can you just use signblazer, don't prepare it in coral or anything. do it right in signblazer. I know the vectoring in signblazer is not the best but would it still do the same thing? The only time i've had this problem is when i used other peoples artwork downloaded and imported from other software programs. That is one thing i have noticed. Every piece of artwork I've done through signblazer is flawless minus the vectoring that i have to clean up to cut properly.
  2. If your using signblazer in your cutter interface ( where you select and apply cut) in setting change the width of your vinyl to 24 or 30 or whatever your cutting so that it knows how wide the vinyl is. Length doesn't matter unless its setup at like 48 inchs, i just set lenght to like 10 ft.
  3. Is there or ever was a rear roller bracket instead of the cross member type supplied? Any ideas for fabricating one. I'm sure it would completely fix the tracking problem because i'm sure the cause is when the machine jerks on the material when rolling and if there was one with rewind it would no longer be a problem for you to use 50 yd rolls.

    Question about copam accesories.

I did the same when i bought mine, now i'm looking to upgrade as well. As far as what you need for that type of business. I would even look at buying a print cutter like a roland versacamm, it will do cutting alone as well as give you a chance to do small printed decals to wraps if you like.

Runs off with a long line

I've had this problem a few times, a couple of time it was because i canceled the cut and the computer was still downloading to the cutter, next i had a graphic i completely remade because it did this same thing. Only there was a single hidden node that somehow jumped to the next universe in the cutting program. I had to zoom way in to even find it was luck. I'm pretty sure that would be the case either way. The best way to get rid of the jump node is to zoom way out and select the empty areas and delete the node. Should go back to normal if you got it.

    Question about copam accesories.

The copam is a great buy, even with it's down falls, you more than likely will want to stay away from large work where tracking is a problem at first. Start out small. I only had enough money to buy a copam when i was shopping. If you have the dough, buy a graphtech or roland. Me i prefer roland. My parents have a graphtech and they have had problems on several occations, although there warranty covered it all. It was still down time. I would recommended a copam just for a spare or to cut heavy material with just to save ware and tare on a roland or graphtech

    Question about copam accesories.

Yes mine has a fan, it is temperature controlled I believe. I hear it run sometimes on really long cuts or if i've been using it all day. If it's just sitting there it will not work only when cutting have i heard it. Tracking for me is a problem even when i unroll what i need, one because of the tight confines of the space i work in and also its environment i witch i work is not optimal. But i deal with it and it just takes me longer. I've used all the techniques i could find but it still will not cut beyond 5 ft without sidetracking. What i have learned is that it is much easier for me to just tile a job as much as i can so that i'm working in smaller area and for the most part it save vinyl too. The bracket i was just wondering about, My parents have there own cutter and printer and both of them have something like i'm talking. They just lack the rewinding. As far as rewinding goes it would be cool if i could make something up. I know where i can get an electric motor that is a variable pull and would release when pulled against. Either that or a ratcheting gear mechanism like a ratchet that would free wheel one way. The roll holder I'm imagining would also be setup with prepositions for the roll guide against the first pinch roller so that it would track.

    Money Maker

Your best bet is to buy a roland versacamm series to start. I've seen then as low as 9500 dollars on ebay for a versacamm and colorcamms on ebay for 1500 and up in great condition. I've been looking at buying used and there are many available.

    Question about copam accesories.

I've done up to 8 ft but have lost a whole 8 ft figuring out how to make it work well when doing cuts that long. Get rid of any weed cutting, or weed all. smart cut doesn't work and just move the material more than the regular way. Use tiles whenever possible. I usually stand next to it and help it along untill i am sure it is tracking and then i might step away for a second. As far as a roller deal, i have a good concept in my head of what i would need. For the rewind all you need is a light tension coil spring and cable pull like a garage door assist. Tensioned properly would be a trial and error deal i guess. I was just wondering if any one had a roller like that. I'm going to try and fab one up in my free time as well as a front catch to stop the vinyl from reaching the floor.
  10. Use signblazer, very simple and no hassle program. Will do most of what you need and as you become more familiar with it, it will amaze you that it is a free program. However you should also get a program like flexi starter and work with that also. I started with nothing but basic computer knowledge and my imagination and now all i use is signblazer for 90% of my work. I only use adobe and coral for printing. You can get the free version of signblazer elements @ www.jsisign.com/products/signblazer.html

how old is your copam 2500

Mine is 2 yrs old, it is a good reliable machine. Never a problem cutting although it needs a third pinch roller to get it to cut longer than 3 or 4 feet. I've done jobs 8 ft plus and you have to stand over it and be ready to push pause to stop it and re-adjust. I really love it and it has paid for it self several hundred times. But still lack the ability to do large jobs reliably without losing some large pieces of vinyl. I'm in the market to purchase a print cutter and larger cutter just for the large jobs and if it where not for this machine none of that would be possible. I haven't checked yet but i am pretty sure i've used somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 yard's of vinyl on this machine without any other problems mechanically. I wish copam would come out with a budget print cutter. That would be awesome.

little squares are driving me crazy

I've had this same problem, i believe it stemmed from the artwork, there are some times hidden nodes every now and then, try erasing the node points in that area, they will be overlapping each other.

See the Highly Reviewed Copam in action

I just got mine about 2 weeks ago. Works great. Setup was pretty smooth. Just a couple stray cuts and we were off. 6 jobs done so far and no serious problems, just mainly software problems and my feeble attempts to do the very unusual designs transferring from adobe and sign blazer. Very pleased so far with this copam, 2500. I've used several other brands like my parents graph tech 48" witch is a good cutter, but this machine does the job just as easily. Plus it was about $2000 cheaper.
