    Building up your vinyl stock

Well I found a place that will sell me assorted colors of the Oracal matte 631 by the yard. for $2.75 (Fellers just had black, white, red & Blue). So I will probably be able to stock up on a few earthy colors for home decorating. I will keep buying the Oracal 651 for signs and decals by thse 10 yd rolls. I thought about 50yd but the shipping kills the savings. My last order at Signwarehouse was $120, but the total was $200 after freight. /sigh.

    stick figures with mouse ears

No problem! I found them at an online retail displayer and converted them with Photoshop and Inkscape. Usually what I do is scour the boards on the weekends for graphics people need, who haven't gotten an answer. Hopefully I can help people that way, cause I am just not as fast as these other guys on the weekdays.

    First project...

looks great! and... OMG green grass!! It snowed 6 inches here today.
  10. Wow I didn't think about that either. I rain-x my windows as well. I used a commercial window cleaner foam to clean before I put my decal on, and didnt' have any problems. I will def. keep that in mind though... Good heads up.

Using a fax with NO phone line??

You dont have to use a fax service though. Why pay someone $30 per year when it can be free? Like I said, get a fax modem for a one time cost of $25-$30 - and it dials thorugh your internet connection. No extra lines. Done deal. And yes, Benr98 you would need a scanner if you wanted to input something that is not electronic. 95% of what I fax is already something digital I created. Proofs and quotes and such.

    Using Krylon Fusion...

I am experimenting with shading my own vinyl for a personal job. I bought some Krylon Fusion as suggested in an earlier thread and unleashed my leet spray can skills on the hapless vinyl. OK, actually I suck with a spray can and it turned out horrible. MaYbe not horrible, but it spattered something awful and I wanted a more smooth look. I shook the heck out of the can before I started, and even did two test pieces and both spattered. Is this just the norm? Do I need an airbrush to make it look smoother? Any tips or help is appreciated! Pics forthcoming, camera battery is charging up.

    Just being nosey

No, it looks very clean and VERY modern. Which is good. The logo is really sleek. Don't overthink it! The best logo's and websites that stick in people's minds are the simple ones. Think Nike, Think General Electric, Think Ford or CHevy. Make it clean and easy to read and people will be able to find the info easier. Maybe the catergories on the lower left can bit a bit smaller text. Thats the only thing I see.

    Opinions on logo

The people have spoken! Jay2703, How is your home decor business going? Does it seem to be a strong seller? Also, do you sell online or just locally? Any tips on marketing this would be awesome. This is a new concept for me

    Opinions on logo

I have been toying with using my cutter not only for my customers decals, but branching into wall decor. Lettering for homes has exploded recently, and NO ONE in my area is doing it. I mean in a 150 mile square radius. If I decide to do this, I would buy another business license and keep it separate from my current business. It would be solely for home and office words, quotes and designs. And I would pretty much have to do it on weekends as I am so slammed now with my print shop, but I really see an opportunity for this and I can't let it pass by. So vote honestly on the business names, cause I've been looking at them so long my eyeballs are bleedin! I need some other points of view. and Yes they are cutesy and girly and smack of homely goodness so much they make my teeth ache... but that is the demographic I need, dammit. If it were up to me it would be total hard core rock n' roll design. But that don't fly with stay at home mommies.

Best places to buy vinyl on line

I have purchased from SignWarehouse. I would love to buy from EBay but most of them will not ship to AK. The Fellers Catalog looks good, I might try them next.

    Using Krylon Fusion...

Finally got my pictures off of my defunct Casio digital camera. Here is the vinyl flame with the Krylon paint on it. The spatter is evident on the close up. Looks great from far away! I haven't tried the nylon trick, I will do that when I get a spare moment.
