ok, well i cut my cousin 2 decals, 4ft long, i used the vinyl calculator that i found on here got a price for materials and times it by 10 and he said that was pretty good. my decals ended up being $56.90 each. i made enough off of him to buy another roll of vinyl.... and im gonna use it since i am using 651. now im going to go and check out my vinyl options and what i should be using. -

btw this was just for one color, for two colors i plan on charging $0.04 per sq/in per color plus $0.04 for my efforts. ie.... red $.04 black $0.04 labor $.04 9x9 two color would cost a customer $9.72 -
ok im about to letter my cousins van. its not my first ive lettered my vehicles and my fathers for free and my friends truck for a beer coosie lol. my cousin wants me to charge him. my vinyl will cost around $90 for a 24" X 50 yd roll. the best i could figure is that i would charge by square inch. there are 3600 sq/in in the this roll. my price on it will be $0.025 per sq/in. i bumped it to $.03 per sq/in. my tape will cost around $70 for a 24"x 100yd roll. 7200 sq/in in this roll. and my price is $0.0097. i bumped it to $0.01 per sq/in so in materials, i can make decals (materials only) for $0.04 per square inch. to cover my labor of designing it cutting it weeding it and installing it im going to charge $0.04 per sq/in. bringing my overall rate to $0.08 per sq/in will i be beating people out of money or will i be beating my self? most of my work will most likly be for small business owners, plumbing, excavating, fences, wrecking etc...

i called tech support, the guy sounded like he was going to be useless but as it turns out he wasnt lol, he had me let him into the computer and with in 5 minutes, the issue was fixed, im not 100% sure what exactly all he did but from what i seen, he had me swap back to the usb cable, installed a new driver: http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/72/23/driver-ftdi---mh-creation-copam-and-sc---windows-xp--vista--7 and swapped the port settings back to the usb settings, and it started cutting. he said that some times the usb ports change, and to double check them. i was double checking my ports last night, but either i missed something or it was that driver. so hopefully this helps out . i know i had 27 views and no responses lol

os: xp cutter: uscutter lazerpoint signblazer i started out having a issue with the computer not recognizing the cutter, i changed from a usb cable to a serial cable, adjusted my port settings so they are the same on the device manager and in sbe. now when i click the cut tile button, it appears to be atempting to send info to the cutter(no cutter movement)it slowly traces the item being cut(it used to be super dee duper fast at tracing)but once it completes tracing the screen just goes back to the pre cut state (the little box that pops up that says cutting info sending to cutter disappears). any idea on what is wrong? i read the pinned topic on this but this issue wasnt really answered. the best solution i got was to check the ground....

ok thanks to all of you for helping me out.
-
ok, so thats the only way i can get it to cut at the current time? my cutter was used when i got it. i have a manual, cutter, usb cable, and power cord
-
im stupid to most of this, what is the diff. in serial connection and usb? is it something i can change by buying a new cord?
-
ok i turn the computer and cutter off, plugged the usb port into a different port, turned the computer and cutter on. opened sbe went into setup assigned the correct usb port to it according to the device manager, and it still will not cut. normally: sbe will freeze the computer and i will have to restart the computer, change the usb port that the cutter is plugged into, and swap it in sbe setup before it will ever cut again, unless i just missed a much easier way to do it. thats the reason i was changing the ports when it said it couldnt open the device

a smart one you are.... i had no idea about the node edit, i tried once before but used only squares lol and it didnt look right. i tried a few minutes ago to cut a sign i had cut before, thinking that the fence image was the reason it wouldnt cut but it still popped up and said the same thing about can not open output device. any idea on how to fix that?
-
that graphic you posted works, but i still ran into the same issue with the pop up
-
yes its just a picket fence. what i have figured out so far, i saved the picture i made as a jpeg, then i was able to import it, i selected the image, clicked mode, clicked monochrome bitmap, then hit vectorize. that gave me two images. one right on top of the other. i separated them deleted the original. tried to cut, but a pop up appears, says: can not open the output device. error intillizing cutter. usually i can unplug the usb cord (frome computer to cutter) and plug it into another usb port and go into setup and select the new usb port, but thats not working. idk
