  1. OK I think I have found answers to some of my questions What type of ink is used for printing on vinyl? Pigment or Dye Pigment inks are used for printing on vinyl and can be used for t-shirt transfers as well. What type of ink is used for sublimation transfers? Pigment or Dye Sublimation is a different process and different type of ink with longer lasting results Sublimation is used for hard surface transfers such as mugs, plates etc.. So if I want to do Mugs, printed vinyl and T-Shirts I will have to have separate printers for each? Can I print on Vinyl to make stickers/bumper stickers? Have to use pigment ink, printable vinyl such as Sihl 3988 and laminate What is the best practice for laminating/sealing the ink on bumper sticker type uses? What is the best/standard for heat transfer vinyl Mactac IJ1958 or Sihl 3988 What type of vinyl would I use for etching stencils? What type of media is best for glass/mirror etching? Can you use vinyl for coffee mugs or do you have to use sublimation for those? Building myself a nice little FAQ here I think
  2. I have searched and read a lot of posts on all of these subjects but some posts were very old, some were a little vague and some things have changed. For instance I was set on ordering a WF1100 for sublimation on t-shirts, mugs etc.... but than last night I read a post that for sublimation you have to use the High Temp ink and CIS no longer sells HT. I am also still very unclear on the different types of ink you can still get with the CIS WF1100, I think pigment is used for printing heat transfers and Dye is used to print on vinyl, but for me to make the most informed decision for the very little money I have, I need to KNOW not think I know. I'm not trying to be lazy here, not trying to take the easy way and let anyone else do my work for me, I just thought this would be the best way to have clear concise answers to the questions I still have, to make sure I don't spend my funds on the wrong thing. I really need to make this work for many reasons including keeping my home and finally being able to make some money and enjoy doing it. I really do think this is something I could have a lot of fun doing. Thank You for your time even if you aren't able to answer my questions here, everyone here has already answered a ton of questions in my reading of other threads and have helped me to get going on this venture.
  3. I have been interested in vinyl cutters and all of the things that I can do with them for years and have always thought about trying to start my own home based business. Now I am disabled and haven't worked for 5 years and am getting VERY bored so I think its time to give it a shot. I don't have many bills so don't need to make a ton of money with this, am hoping for at least $500 - $1000 per month. I have been reading these forums for awhile trying to make sure I had it straight what I needed and how things work. I have started buying equipment to get started, here is a list of what I have so far. 36" Creation Pcut Cutter APPRoller Tape Application Roller 20 Squeegees FlexiSTARTER v10 - Dongle / All Driver Edition Ultimate ClipArt deSIGN MINI PACK GreenStar 12-Color Starter Pack, 24" x 5 Yard Rolls ORACAL 651 24" x 10 Yard Roll Black ORACAL 651 24" x 10 Yard Roll White ORACAL 651 24" x 10 Yard Roll Red 24" and 6" GreenStar Layflat Classic Transfer Tape - 2 Rolls,100 yards each SISER EasyWeed 15" x 5 Yards Black SISER EasyWeed 15" x 5 Yards White 30gal Abrasive Blast Cabinet PRO-3804X 15" x 15" Heat Transfer Press I hope to be able to buy a Workforce 1100 from CIS soon but that can wait for now. From my reading here I think I have most of what I need to try and get a start, but have a few questions to make sure I have things straight in my mind. OK here is what I think I understand about all of this, please correct me if I am wrong. Oracal 631 is best for home decor/wall art decals Oracal 651 is good/standard for most car decals, and most other general stickers Rtape medium is the most standard choice for most applications Cotton shirts or 50/50 are best for Heat transfer vinyl Polly shirts are used for sublimation transfers Questions: What is the best/standard for heat transfer vinyl What type of vinyl would I use for etching stencils What type of media is best for glass/mirror etching What type of ink is used for sublimation transfers? Pigment or Dye Can I print on Vinyl to make stickers/bumper stickers? What type of ink is used for printing on vinyl? Pigment or Dye What vinyl is best for printing on making bumper stickers? What is the best practice for laminating/sealing the ink on bumper sticker type uses I think that might be all of my questions for now. Any help you can provide answering these questions for me is greatly appreciated.
  4. I plan on buying a heat press, a dye sub printer, and lots of supplies within the next few weeks and with the treatment I received today I wont even bother looking elsewhere for any of it, so I hope I make it pay off for them.
  5. My only problem now is deciding if I should call and complain that I didn't receive the Ultimate ClipArt deSIGN Mini Pack that was supposed to come with it, or just be happy that I got such a great upgrade.
  6. On Monday Nov. 28 after a lot of time trying to decide if I really wanted to spend my money (which I don't have very much of right now) on trying to get into something like vinyl cutters and all the fun things that go along with them, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a cutter with some starter supplies. I bought the 34" SC series here http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_6349wt_1163 . Right after I sent payment I started browsing around uscutter.com and seen that they had the cutter I just ordered listed as out of stock and expected to see my order canceled like most companies would have done. The next morning the auction listing I bought from was pulled stating "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." Now I was really getting worried that I was going to have to start trying to decide which one I wanted to buy instead. After a few days I was getting impatient waiting for a tracking number or an order cancellation to show up in my inbox and instead I received 3 boxes on my doorstep and was very pleased that my new toy had already arrived. While trying to get these large boxes into my house (bad back not cooperating very well) I noticed the name on the cutter box was not what I had ordered, instead of cancelling my order, which any other company would have done, I had received a rather nice upgrade from the model I had ordered. Instead of the 34" SC series I was sent the 36" Creation PCUT Cutter. If this is any indication of what kind of company US Cutter is and the quality of service I can expect from them, I will not hesitate in giving them every bit of my future business. Thank You US Cutter
