  1. the blade not turning was my first thought. it spins super free and is clean as a whistle. the plotter is only a couple of months old and is used for my hobby, so it doesn't have a lot of "miles" on it. as for the lifting of points i am thinking of trying some automotive paste wax on the blade holder where it rubs on the vinyl.

  2. I use my machines for a full time business. And do you know what? For the first time in over 30 years..I am actually having FUN making a living. I actually look forward to work every day.

i am the same way with my contracting business. :) i work as a "one man show", i do finish carpentry mostly ( you can see some examples of my work at blessinghomes.net). i get a real thrill when i see true appreciation for my work. i can see it in the homeowners eyes and glowing smile when they tell me how much their friends like something i have done to their homes. it can be, at times, hard messy work. but it is always worth it in the end. in fourteen years i have had only one unhappy customer, and i think they weren't playing with a full deck. ;)

  3. actually the chattering is only when cutting a straight line from the left to the right. the part of the cutter that moves up and down is a little loose and the dynamic of the holder pushing the blade that direction causes it to sort of jump. it also makes a zipper like cut. this hasn't really been a problem so far, because the only time it cuts in that direction is when cutting a weed box. i can also gently lay my finger on the side of the blade holder when it cuts that direction to stop the chattering. i figure it is just par for the course when you pay so little for such a sophisticated machine.

  4. here is the latest vinyl. i was feeling a little disgruntled when i thought of this. they are the plastic dealership plates they put on when they deliver a new vehicle, i just flipped them over. needles to say i am a little less than happy with my dealer. ;)

  5. if your blade is cutting through your backing paper, you have too much blade sticking out of the holder. take the holder out of the cutter and with a scrap of what you will be cutting adjust the holder so it will just cut the vinyl by dragging the cutter across the scrap with your hand. then your blade is properly adjusted and can be reinstalled on your machine. you will have to do this each time you ghange vinyl because different vinyls come in different thicknesses. and of course the pressure adjustment will also be different with different thickness vinyl also.

    hope this helps
