  1. Yup, as far as I know everything's the same. kim said he's looking into it with mfg to see if there was a firmware update or something. Anybody have experience with a gx-24?
  2. the roland 45* blade and holder are in fantastic shape and working condition. this isn't a mechanical issue. the issue is the "offset value" in SCP doesn't change the offset at the head. it doesn't matter what tool or blade is installed... if the offset value is changed in SCP, there should be SOME difference in the path at the head (rounded if offset is too little, jagged if offset is too much). i'm demonstrating that there is no difference, and i'm asking why.
  3. i know, the blade was cutting the small text poorly, and changing the offset wasn't affecting the cut, so i put the pen in for diagnostic purposes. with the pen installed, the first time i "cut" (without changing the offset), it plotted properly. ...which indicates the head is moving without any offset compensation. the first photo shows that the head movement is the same even though i was changing the offset values from 0.0 all the way to 1.0mm. it's not a mechanical issue with the blade/holder/head. those are all good. i've been using this machine for 3 years and i generally know what i'm doing. this one has me thrown off though.
  4. Recently switched from X2 to Prod Pro. Running OSX with CTN630 and KeySpan. Offset value no longer changes anything. Everything is cutting with 0 offset, verified with the pen (the hand-written numbers are the offset values i used for that particular "cut"): Settings: I did notice that "Creation" only has an option for "CTN630E" and I think mine is just a "CTN630". Don't know the difference or if it matters here: Cut settings:

    PCut / SignCut setup

Argh. My hard drive died, and now that my Mac is repaired, I'm struggling to get everything back to the way I had it. Despite following the setup instructions, Signcut isn't communicating with my plotter. Computer: MacBook Pro, intel, running OS X.5; Plotter: PCut CTN630; Connection: Keyspan adapter; SignCut setup ("cutter" screen): Cutter: Refine MH721 (I think this is how I had it set up before. If this is wrong, I couldn't figure out how to install the CTN630 driver); Device: /dev/cu...; Baud: 9600.

    signcut weeding box placement

I still haven't figured this out. With the length set to 148mm I get the bottom weeding box, 149mm I get the one on top. Any ideas?

Crashes When I Try To Cut

Was this figured out? I'm having that problem now for the first time. Files I cut the other day won't cut now.

    signcut weeding box placement

Sorry, I had trouble attaching these. Since the first post, I figured out that the image size changes the way SignCut places the image in the weed box. If I have the size set to 140mm, I get the weed box below. If I set the size to 200mm, for example, I get the weed box above (graphic centered like I want it). I tried adjusting settings with no luck. I'm 99% positive I've cut these at 140mm with the image centered before though, and to the best of my knowledge, I haven't changed anything.

    signcut weeding box placement

I just starting using SignCut and I'm not comprehending the weeding box... The top of my graphic is a straight line. I want a box around the graphic, so I put in a value for the weeding box. Then sometimes the straight line of the graphic shares the line of the weeding box, while the rest of the graphic looks spaced properly. Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's not, and I haven't been able to duplicate what I'm doing. I tried the help directions, but still no luck. Thanks!

    software confusion

When I bought my PCut I thought I would use Windows, since the software was free. But I don't much like switching between Windows and OS X, so I'd like to get cutting on the Mac side. What software do I need? I will mostly be working in Illustrator, and I will still have accessibility to SignBlazer on the Windows side. Do I need SignCut X2? Is there anything that's better (I'm not saying it's bad, I haven't tried it).

    Color Code Help

Hi, I'm Len. I bought a 12" Refine to play with, and I'm impressed. I want to replace our shop sign, which is blue vinyl on 1/8" translucent white plastic (it's backlit). I'm having difficulty with two things: 1) The sign color code required by the condo association is supposed to be "blue 2114". Does this number mean anything to anyone? I did some searching on my own, and we had previously gotten some quotes from local sign shops, and the number didn't seem to mean anything to them, either. If I can't find "blue 2114", any tips on trying to match the vinyl? I take it I want the "translucent" type vinyl, right? 2) What is this white plastic? I've found some things, but I'm not sure if they're for this (backlit) application. Thanks a ton and I look forward to contributing to the forum! Len
