  1. Ok, this is just too weird. I installed on my laptop running 64-bit Vista (using the serial port on COM1). Everything worked great. Now comes the weird part. As soon as I placed my laptop on the desk and plugged in other peripherals (like a second montior, keyboardmouse) the LCD on the cutter went blank again. The cutter will still cut anything I send to it, even when the LCD is blank. If I unplug all peripherals except the cutter, the LCD comes back. If I plug in even a single peripheral, the LCD goes blank again. This is similar behavior to my desktop computer that I could never get working. It's just that I could never try it on my desktop without anything else plugged into it, so the LCD was always blank. Any ideas?
  2. Yes. I have a laptop running 64-bit Vista. I'll try that and let you know if the same symptoms occur.
  3. Just got the new IO board. Plugged it in, but the same problem occurs. My USB Serial Port (COM3) appears in the device manager as long as the cutter is off. As soon as I turn the cutter on, the USB Serial Port dissapears from the device manager. As I mentioned earlier in this post, using the LPT port causes the LCD to go blank as soon as I connect the computer to the cutter. Now what?
  4. Thanks. I'll send it out right away. Is this the right shipping address to send it to? USCutter 19510 144th Ave NE Suite C1 Woodinville, WA 98072 Also, is there any info that needs to be included with the part when I ship it back?
  5. Ok, I went through installing via USB, and my USB Serial Port (COM3) appears in the device manager as long as the cutter is off. As soon as I turn the cutter on, the USB Serial Port dissapears from the device manager. Seems a little backwards to me; I'm guessing this is not normal behavior. I've now tried every possible connection method, and none of them work. Can someone please talk to me about how I can get the IO board replaced?
  6. Ok, I'll play with it some more tonight and see if I can get it working via USB and let you know how it goes. Thanks.
  7. Figures...Nothing works on Vista without some kind of patchfixhack. I'll search the forums tonight for help. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks for the reply... I tried the USB last night, and it did not make the LCD go blank, but when I attempted to install the drivers nothing happened (running Vista 32-bit). At this point, frustration set in. I know there is alot of info on this forum for dealing with USB setup issues, so I'll look around this evening and try to get it working via USB. I'm still not feeling terribly comfortable with my new purchase when the recommended connection methods (LPT or Serial) cause the unit to stop functioning. I would still like an answer as to why the LPT and Serial ports are causing this problem.
  9. Follow up to my previous post... The above problem only occurs when the cutter is connected to the computer (via either the LPT or the Serial port). As soon as I unplug either end of the connection, the LCD displays the "Welcome" message and I can change settings and run the test.
  10. I just bought this Refine MH721 and set everything up. The LCD screen is lit, but there is nothing on it, just a blue background. Reset button is lit, but all other buttons seem unresponsive. Can someone please help?
