One a graphic artist, one a cutting plotter technician and the third an installer. OR you could do a little research and become all three like the rest of us schlubs. Seriously, This is a USERS forum made up completely of good people trying to help out others who need a hand up. Most of us have our businesses or day jobs or both. We know how valuable time is.
I agree.
Never seen a plug and play business where everything is done for you.

Agreed. There is a depth to it and grain changes with depth. Looks right to me.

I still occasionally use it for printed needs on one off stuff but I always make my design a large single piece and just peel it up and lay it on there. Most times it's some ones face or something like that in a raster format.
Agreed. I thought about the effect of having it cut out with a pattern fill and liked the idea, and how it turned out.
Not sure if any will even sell, but wanted it on my list of offerings.
Looks like the stuff I need is magic mask high tack. Found it at Stahls for $8 something for 1 yard x 20 inch. Add in shipping and handling and it is $20.

Trying to get the 3G off the backing and transfer it like regular HTV. I don't want any of the background, just the cut out parts.
The stuff is like trying to stick tape to a piece of chalk.
-
Well, gave it a shot. Regular HTV carrier is no where close to tacky enough. Had some other stuff that had a real sticky carrier and tried it.
It is not a lot of fun, but it can be done. This one looks better from a distance, but I had nothing to base sizes of graphic or anything else on, so it was a shot in the dark really.
Would I do it again? Probably, but no more than a one off.
Need to find out what that mask stuff is called. Searched and couldn't find anything on it.

Has anyone ever tried this, or is there something out there I have not found.
What I want to do is print a couple of words on 3G opaque (will be pattern print, not solid color) then contour cut. All the letters are separate so I would have to place them separately. That would not be the best.
Anyone have an idea on doing this?
I was thinking print, contour cut, weed and use a piece of sticky backing from regular HTV to get the letters of the backing and on the shirt.
Any thoughts on this, or anyone tried, or can I actually buy something to do that?

Forgot to set the regulator once.
Blasting glass at 120psi is definitely not a good thing.

Even for a cheap siphon gun you are going to want at least 5cfm at 90 psi.
You will never blast glass at 90, but that is what they call for.

Let goose chime in here.
I think your temp was a bit low and time was minimal.
IMO correct temp and maximum or longer press time would work better than minimums.
And ya, pressure has to be there.
Also, how close the seams where the names? They will prevent the correct pressure needed.

Temp is a bit low. Should be 305. How long did you press for?
Did the texture of the jersey show through on the easy weed?
I always press for the recommended time, peal then press again for half the time with parchment paper. Never had a problem.

What are they made of?

Did you change the color profile to the one from sawgrass?

You're not necessarily going to want to start with 24" or larger vinyl while you're still learning the best way to setup your machine. You might not even want the colors they want to send - although, you could use that as your test vinyl.
Depending on what kind of vinyl you end up buying, you will also need: app tape, squeegee, sharp tweezer/dental pick/x-acto (or whatever you want to use to weed the vinyl), scissors, DIY application fluid. If you want to ease your setup - 60* Clean Cut blade, extra cutting strip, a self healing mat, rolling cutter, a long ruler or straight edge. I'm sure they're other stuff that's not coming to mind right now.
Table to work on? BIG table.

The starter kits are the cheaper vinyl to practice with.
If you have never run a cutter, or used the software, lining up clients is probably not a good idea.
It's not rocket surgery, but there is a learning cure to it. And I do not mean a week.

Agree the weed is no fun and I wish it had a sticky carrier.
Ya, that sticky part is needed. Must be a reason for it not being there.
Same with my kid, coolest stuff around.

Ok, back to topic.
Before you remind me, I know. Not for sale.
When I get a new product to try, I always make something for me first to test the stuff out..
The stuff is like cutting and weeding vinyl flooring. Maybe not that bad, but wow.
Also, the carrier is not sticky. If you pull any part of the design off. It will not stick and you have to put that piece on with a second pressing.
Very cool effect. The black on black looks amazing.
Pic's are one koozie with design on both sides.
Now to test it and make sure the stuff sticks.

What does the display say when it stops?
Only time I have seen that is when the vinyl out the back gets hung up on the roll or basket and the sensor thinks there is no vinyl. Can usually fix that and hit enter for it to restart where it stopped.
