Hi All,
My names Alex and I am from the South-East of the UK. I got into sign making while researching CNC machines for my flight simulator hobby. The cnc machine world kind of side tracked me to the sign making side where I discovered the hidden world of sign making. My first ever machine was the craft robo, then I moved upto the Roland Stika and now I have a graphtec again (my roland was too small being the SX8 version). I am only learning still, and sign making is still only a hobby. I design everything on Corel Draw X5 and then convert to DXF and then cut on my graphtec. I am only making small signs, decals & stickers and has recently started pressing small babies garments. I also make printed gifts too. As this is only a hobby, I mainly do this for fun, but the hotel where I work has already got me making their new sign for their pub and restaurant, and I have also made some custom stickers for a flight simulator enthusiast. My name is getting about and slowly I am building up this 'side line earner hobby'. Mostly when I am out and about and I see a good sign, I take a photo on my camera and replicate it at home. I see this as good practice and most of my 'practise' work gets sold to enthusiasts so I can reclaim the cost of vinyl and app tape etc.
I come to this forum to help develop and get inspiration, and very soon I hope to get a larger uscutter machine.
I will be posting my designs shortly too.
All the best.
Alex
