  1. I'm looking for any advice on applying large blocks of vinyl to a banner. I need to create a 2' x 8' solid red box on a 4' x 8' white banner. (Basically make it half white, half red.) Anybody have any tips on working with a piece of vinyl this large? Is it best to just put it on in segments? I'm not sure the best way to approach this one. Thanks.

Advice on Applying Large Section of Vinyl on Banner

I've done that quite a few times and I never could get it right unless I did it wet. BannerJohn - I've had good luck on windows using wet applications, never tried it on a banner. The banner stock I've got (from the guy you suggested on one of the forums, thanks BTW) has quite of bit of texture to it. Anything you do special to get the fluid out of those indentions? Or is it just a lot of pressure when you squeegee it out?

    Fonts for wall art

Depends on what kind of look you are going for. Invitation, Dyer Arts, Scibble and Garamond Ital are all good choices.

Have you done vinyl on ceramic tiles??

We had a football team that needed an inexpensive "trophy" for their coach's wall. Used some 651 on a ceramic tile. Just used their team logo and their season record. It looked great, and I've sold several since then. These make a nice inexpensive gift for a coach and it opens up a market for sports teams. I've got a lot of banner orders that came about because of that first tile.

    Wall art

One of our local decorator shops sells precut sayings from some company. No choice of size, text, or font. You take what they have. You do get a choice of colors: black or white. They get $40 a pop for them. Makes it an easy sell for me when I give them what they actually want.

Can matte vinyl stick to wall paper??

I've had good luck with it sticking to some wallopapers, but not others. (Also had some problems with washable paints.) It's a good idea to test first. The oldest I've removed was about two years on a painted surface. If came off cleanly. However, there was some that had direct sunlight on it everyday. The paint that didn't have the vinyl faded from the sunlight. The area that was covered was brighter and left a faint image.

    Cutting Lines

Let me try again. I'm trying to cut a series of lines 8' x .25". Made them using the square feature at the top of Signblazer. Dropped the square on the screen, then adjusted the size. When I go to cut them, they show up on the cut screen. Hit "CUT" and the vinyl runs the entire length, like it is cutting, but there is no cut made. No settings were changed, everything else before and after cuts fine. Can't figure out why it won't cut these lines.

    Cutting Lines

I am in the process of cutting a design for a banner, using SignBlazer. Messed up a couple of lines while I was weeding. I figured I could just create a couple of new ones using the square feature. Went to cut, nothing. The cutter goes through the motions of moving the vinyl, but there are no cut lines. Tried recutting one of the letters, it worked fine. Do I need to do something else so the "squares" can be read as cuttable? They show up in the cut screen, just don't cut out. Any ideas? Thanks.

    copyright law

Adidas just won a $300+ million dollar lawsuit over Payless Shoes for infringement. Payless made a tennis show with three STRIPES down the side. In my opinion it looked nothing like Adidas' shoes. The jury ruled it was close enough.

    first wall d

Another web site to peruse is wall words dot com. A lot of good photos there. I've been using 631 for a couple of years for wall decor. I peeled off some of the first samples I had applied about 2 years ago. It came off easily and very clean. One section had been exposed to sunlight everyday, and there was a faint shadow where the paint had faded that wasn't covered by the decal.

    coroplast

when they make a tool that cuts ACROSS the direction of the flutes,I'll buy one. That's the hard part. Actually that tool does a pretty good job of that. Score the coroplast with a razor blade, bend just a little, then use the tool to cut the rest of the way through. I've found it makes a nice clean cut with much less work and pressure.

    Building up your vinyl stock

So I will probably be able to stock up on a few earthy colors for home decorating. Sorry - forgot to add, copper is one of my most requested colors for this purpose. Has a really rich look.

    Building up your vinyl stock

Polarkiss - Is your source for the 631 someone who will sell to anybody, or are they just doing you a favor? I always keep soft pink, light blue, beige, black, white and copper in stock. Some of the other colors I colors I can't justify buying a full roll for a small job. BTW - If you haven't tried marketing to churches yet, you might want to check it out. Bible quotes cut from 631 have been selling really well o area churches. Plus I've gotten referrals for people wanting other things for their own homes.

    Cutting Tiles

The first thing to do is turn off your screen saver. None in use If this does not fix it then get someone to examine your BIOS. If it has power management turned on for ports then turn it off. Not turned on. Haven't been able to get out and try a new cable yet.

    Cutting Tiles

The size was set up correctly, on both the cutter and the software. It cut about the first quarter of the banner, then went into "waiting" on the LCD screen and basically froze up. I'll try changing the cable and the ports. Thanks. I have no problem with small jobs. It just won't cut this large one as a single job. I had to go in and cut each element (Line of type, etc.) as seperate projects.

    Cutting Tiles

I don't think I made myself clear. I was trying to cut graphics and type at a size of 22" x 96" for a banner. (Vinyl is 24" wide.) It would not cut as a single job. Cutter would start, then stop cutting and display reads waiting. I had read that I shoudl break it up into more than one tile, so each could cut separately. I can't figure out how to add a second or third tile. I can size the intial tile however I want it, but can't add additional tiles to cut. I get the box asking if I want to cut all tiles, but never get more than one per project. The manual shows a TILE Icon across the top, but I don't have that. I only have an icon reading Auto Tile.
