I agree with previous posts. I did one once that was a few very simple letters and we just pulled them off and then covered the whole thing with a new layer of white (on a white banner) and then built on that. You could still see the old glue residue showing through if you got up close. The customer was ok with it but finally saw what we were trying to tell her and agreed to just buy a new one next time. The really dumb this is at the end of the day the cost was actually higher than a new one would have been.

yes it was im not sure what the usual quote is on something like this you all do it your area. but i charged $35 for it (with removal and all ) the customer was happy. But i showed him the same thing as the shadows were on it. But he seemed ok with it. MAde him sign a waiver stating thats how he wanted it and there would be no bad talk if it came up because i tryed to sell him a new printed one at a discounted price

  2. i used dishwashing liquid and water in the past but it seems to do ok but not in cooler weather. i was doing some windows on a shop and used that method and it worked but was colder than i expected, i will try some rapid tac 2 and see how that does

  3. so is the information that i stated correct with the pricing and all? i understand how you are doing it but i want to get a actual cost of everything that way i can show profit at the end of the year to myself. i guess im just dumbfounded on throwing out a price cause sometimes my customers say im really cheap and im really thinking of going full time because some of the shops in my area wont touch little decals or want a arm leg and first born for bigger ones. i know they have more overhead than i do. but customer say he was quoted $125 and i quoted $75 for the same thing

Is there a actually software or place where its just like the site but it calculates everything?

I just do this as a hobby, but anything I sell I just price at what I would be willing to pay for it. A little more professional way to do it would be to simply figure up the cost of the material you are using and then add in your time at a reasonable hourly rate and you have your price.

me too i updated the comment above with a little more math i wanna see if im may be correct or not.

Personally I'm around the $4 or $5 range but that doesn't cover smaller stuff. It's a graded curve and I use the wet thumb in the wind method to determine what exact pricing point I want to charge.

The small the decal the higher you go per sq foot? i heard some others are around $7-12 in my area, but im not a professional sign shop. i was using a vinyl calcutor to see about prices and stuff but was a little confused at how they have it set up. http://vinylcalculator.com/ is the site and it gives a little info about how much it cost you but how much you would charge for a decal at that $7 sq ft charge. im not very good in math but trying to get there with it.

here is what im looking at

vinyl cost 10 yards by 24 inches $19.79

    shipping    $9.99

    total  $29.78

is .003 sq in or .50 sq foot

app tape 12 inches by 100 yards  $38.98

    shipping $9.99

    total $48.97

it is .001  sq inch or .16 sq ft

    DECALS

25 white decals at $7 sq foot 2 inches by 3.5 inches are  $8.51 (there cost?)

and i believe my cost with app tape is $0.80 correct?

  6. I have a creation pcut  plotter been using it for a couple years now. and either its having issues or the software is. The software is flexi 10 pro.( I bought out a small sign shop years ago) i use the software and all and sometime it does great at everything i need, the issue that im having is when it goes to cutting multiple decals at once it will freeze up on my cutter and say "waiting" and will not continue. Is it a software issue or a cutter issue? i also want to upgrade cutters but im stuck at this point deciding what the real issue is,

  7. im been using this creation pcut for a while now. But im just wondering how to resolve a issue. Say like i cutting a decal but its a 3x7 not very detailed at all. On the second sticker  the machine will say "waiting" and will not continue. Why is this and what can i do to solve this problem

ps the computer is kindof old but work great to my knowledge. the cutter is about 3 years old.

  8. So by my calculations if they are correct my app tape @ 12 inches by 100 yards is $38.98 (plus shipping $9.99) = $48.97 which is $0.001 per sq inch and $0.16 per sq ft. the vinyl 0651 is $24.24 (plus shipping $9.99) = $31.98 which is $0.004 sq in and $0.53 per sq ft

if my math  and software is correct the total on my end just for app tape and vinyl is $8.75?

Then i would add my labor, design fee and all in correct?

what is the usual labor charge per shop by the hour? some say $25 per hr and bigger ones tell me $75  and some say design charges are $25 per customer no matter what the design, but im not trying to make a killing or overcharge customer and i want to be fair on both ends because i was told i was too cheap and needed to go up on pricing.

if not please guide me into the right direction

  9. i have a customer that wants decals made. We got into a decal agreement and we both like it the decal will be a 5x7(give or take) for a youth bowling group. They will be doing a fundraiser for the group. Needless to say i think ive been undercharging for decals, But i have repeat customers and they love my prices. But im at the point where if i charge $8 for a decal others are charging $12. i know they may have more overhead than i do but my customers insist on raising my prices. so with that be said i have a pricing calculator set up and its basically saying for 50 decals 5x7 at a moderate weeding job would be $130.15  (around $2.60 per decal) would the software be correct or am i just crazy Remember this is a fundraiser but im not trying to screw myself or the customer neither.

  10. Well the person actually paid it and said no one got as close to it as i did, Needless to say i do not have degree in anything graphic design. So they told me they would pay extra anytime that i had to go beyond my time to do this. As i work 16+ hrs a day at my main job and do this on the side. When i told them what it was for and all Because most companies charge $15 -$75 per hr for anything design,  One company told them $15 vector fee on top of the sticker would cost @ $45 per hr..

Ps so would you charge a up front fee for vector/ design on all orders that needed vector to keep it fair? im not looking to get rich or anything but feel if i have to spend 3+ hrs on vectorizing and design i should charge. Some sites will charge you month by month fees
