    Communications Problem

Well, after finally getting hold of tech support a couple of times, my problem was resolved. The problem was the motherboard. At first they thought it might be the USB port on the cutter. After I installed the new port they overnight express mailed to me, there was no difference. After another lengthy call to tech support, it finally boiled down to a defective motherboard. They sent me a new motherboard which I installed with little difficulty, and the problem was solved. When I sent my first cut to the cutter, it started cutting right away. While I suspect this problem is not common, it was my luck to have the one cutter with the defective board. Actually I found tech support to be quite helpful. Although I had difficulty at first getting a call through, I waited no longer than 5 minutes on hold for both of the other calls.

    Hold Time for Tech Support

I guess I need to back up a little. I waited until afternoon to contact tech support and the call was answered in about 3-5 minutes. The Technician logged onto my computer, checked the problem out, and determined I had a bad USB connection on the cutter. He is overnight express mailing me a replacement. Hopefully the problem will be resolved after I install the new part. Maybe their problem is their new telephone system.....I have not given up on them as of this moment.
  3. I cannot believe that USCutter would leave you on hold for 20 minutes than just end the call. When I called back, I was on hold for another 30 minutes and no answer. I am beginning to wonder if purchasing from USCutter was a wise investment. I was told via e-mail from Levi Hartzog at USCutter to call them so they can log onto my computer and attempt to fix the communications problem I have been having since I first set up the cutter 2-3 weeks ago. I can't spend the entire day holding on to wait for a tech to answer my call. I know what Customer Service is since I taught it at my job.

    Communications Problem

Actually com port 1,3,4,5,6,7 are indicated as being used. Com port 2 is not used, so I don't know why com 8 was selected instead of com 2. The computer is about six years old and has 4 USB hubs on the back and two on the front. The two front ones don't work. I have had them fixed three times but they still quit working after a short while. Of the 4 usb ports on the back, I have one port with a 4 port serial bus. Two of these are used for an open port to plug in my portable hard drive to back up my files and for my mouse. Another USB port is used for the printer and another for the keyboard. When I look at the driver for Com 8, it is an FTDI driver dated 7/12/2010.

    Communications Problem

When you check the Comm Ports, it says that Com 1 thru 7 are in use. It automatically selected Com 8. I noticed under the Device Manager Universal Bus Controller that it didn't show a Creation Cutter USB board. The CD I received with the cutter was quite confusing. It seem to provide USB drivers but there was no install included. It had a number of files but none that had an .exe after them. The drivers are most likely the problem but I am at a loss as to the procedure to follow for loading them. The documentation provided with these drivers appears to support Windows 2K and Windows 98 systems. I did check te setup tab in SB and it matched the com port settings.

    Communications Problem

My brother (who is very computer literate, as am I,) spent about 15 hours attempting to get the cutter USCUTTER CTO630 to work. I have set it up exactly as the manual says. After plugging the Serial USB cable into the computer "found new hardware" appeared and set up the Com port (com8) as the manual indicated it would. I set Sign-blazer up with the exact port information however when I attempt to cut, Sign-Blazer sends the information to the cutter which is set on-line, but there is no response from the cutter at all. To determine if the cable was working correctly, we unplugged it from the cutter and attempted to send a cut from sign-blazer. Sign-Blazer responded with a note that said it couldn't connect. We have read through all of the forum information and attempted to change various settings based on similar problem with other owners, but still cannot get a response from the cutter. Any ideas...I have sent a ticket to USCUTTER but am anxious to get this thing working.
