    Newbie Question

UHG! How do you resize in Inkscape...It's too big of a file to send. I've been working on this since you sent your reply...I have no problems resizing pictures but can't quite get this one figures out.

    Newbie Question

I recently joined this forum to help me learn...I thnk I want to start a t-shirt business (more so as a hobby than a huge money maker). So I am trying to learn all the ins and outs before I go spending lots of money on equipment. I do already own a heat press though and have had fun with the few tshirts i have done but know i have so much more to learn. So anyway, over the past few days I have been playing with Inkscape to learn how to do Vector Graphics. Before i purchase the cutter I wanted to see how much trouble it will be to create graphics. So my first project was to take an old T-shirt graphic and trace it, then to add color and accents to make it my own. I did use layers but not sure if I did so correctly. I also learned how to use the nodes to clean it up. So my question (hopefully I am allowed to ask this...If not let me know and I will remove my post)...but is it possible to send this file to someone out there to look over to tell me if i did this right? I would also welcome any artistic feed back too...I am far from being an artist! I could also send the original to show what i used. I guess the other question would be-- Is it even legal for me to have traced this object to use? I don't know who the creator was to ask permission. It was used for a tshirt that our summer pool's dive team had a few years ago and I was hoping to use it again on this years tshirt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Karen

I'm not yet. That is actually what brought me to this forum...I was researching cutters. I was looking at something on the smaller and cheaper range to start with and get a feel for things so I was looking at the USCutter MH365 12" vinyl craft and scrapbooking cutter. I know that this wouldn't put out any high end production but thought that since i really don't have a clientel base yet this wouldn't be too bad to start tthings off...any thoughts?

So at this point I am gathering as much info as i can to see if the T-shirt business is something for me. I have a Heat Press that was given to me by a friend that was doing tshirts but got out of the biz. I have dabbled with doing some small heat press projects and have really enjoyed it to the point of maybe making a run at it as a business. I don't know that i would say I'm overly artistic but enjoy doing artistic things. I have been doing alot of Google Searches--reading and watching videos on what it takes to get going in this. One of the questions I am still trying to learn about relates to software for graphics. Currently I have a fairly new version of CorelPhotoShop--would this work instead of CorelDraw for some of the cutters that are mentioned in the forum? At least until I decide if I want to pursue this in more depth! I haven't actually sat down and played with making drawings yet but it is on my list of things to do in my learning quest. I did come across a manual that I found in the Forum that seems like will be a huge amount of help...I've printed it and and starting to read. Ok so now that i have written a book for my intro--If anyone has any advice please share. Karen
