Looking to take some of my files from the .silhouette and convert them to DXF or at least another type vector file so I can play with them in OTHER programs. Is there a way to do this? Do I need another program to help the conversion? If so, what is suggested?? Thanks and any help is appreciated.

I'm using a silhouette SD, and tried the stock 3mm vinyl from US cutter recommended for the unit. The stuff cuts and weeds well enough. I'm also using Greenstar clear transfer tape, but the transfer tape has better adhesive than the vinyl!! Its lifting/moving the templates and stretching/distorting them badly. Any other vinyl suggestions ?? I need something with a LEAST the same adhesive qualities as the Greenlee clear transfer tape. ANY help with this is GREATLY appreciated.Thanks!!

Hi everyone!! Total noob here, just getting started, and would like to know what type of vinyl would be good for use to make electro-etch templates?? These will be used to electro etch marks on knives, tools, and other metal objects. Its would have to be adhesive but not permanent, but also be fairly easy to remove from the backing with the transfer sheet. Gearing up to place an order, and checking out the free samples as well, and any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks ASH! Running Windows XP 64 bit. I downloaded SBE before I bought the Silhouette SD and started my electro-etch stencil design work on that vector program. And I have to say I really LOVE the SBE program. I still have a LOT to learn, but I really like all the tools/editing options, and the measurement tool is helping me get my vector designs to size REALLY quick. Still learning the basics of vector designing. Just wish I could cut some test vynil from it to my Silhouette SD. :'( The Silhouette Studio program isnt half as intuitive though, and I'm hoping I dont have to start learning that one!!

Hi everyone! Learning as I go here, and watching the tutorials. Thanks to all who've posted them. Playing with Inkscape, and spending a LOT of time on SignBlaser Elements. Just bought the Silhouette SD, and will be using it for making vynil templates for etching tools, knives, etc. Does SBE work with this cutter?? I dont see it listed in the drop down menu. I've also heard theres like 3-4 different versions of SB. Is there one that supports the Silhouette? Thanks!! D. synweap223
