  1. Are you sure this is not a "too many points" problem? My "diagonal slash the vinyl art to death" glitch happens when the cutter has to cut detailed art like extremely jagged fonts and large layouts, the cutter runs out of memory the best I can describe it and crashes and slashes. If I cut the layout into smaler sections, i.e. one word at a time, or one artwork at a time in the software and load them individualy in the cutter, they cut fine. One recent example to prove my point is a sprint car racers art I did on Illustrator, just fonts. I layed out everything to cut so that there would be little waste, and the total length was like 9 feet X 24"(width of vinyl used). The font was a simple one with smooth rounded edges and the machine cut about 75% of the work then crashed and slashed... Wasting the art and changing from USB to serial (I tried everything I could at the time with no knowledge) then tried again and the same result. I then went in and saved the names and numbers in about 10 different files, and cut them with no problems one after the other.
  2. Is there a way to fix my projects in Adobe Illustrator CS2? I do not have much experience with it, but it is an easy way to make EPS art to cut in Sign Cut X2.
  3. I am having the same problems, but Mine will cut large simple lettering with no problem, but if I try to layout a large job to save vinyl and cut a large 15" by 80" project with different letter and number fonts and art, the machine seems to get confused and in the middle of the project it will just start cutting a diagonal line through all of the art, and that is not right especially with vinyl prices the way they are. I am wondering what communications settings I need to set in the cutter. It won't screw up all the time and that is why I am confused. Is it the baud rate? Someone out there help Me please :-) I run Win XP on a 2.4 Pentium 4 computer running Sign Cut X2 and I switched from the USB to the Serial Port and it did not help this problem. It seems that more complex art and lettering will not cut right and it starts screwing up at diffrent points in the project (I tried one piece of art 4 times and it failed differently every time) Should I switch to LPT and try that? Thanks for your attention to this matter and I hope to hear from someone soon. -Harold

    Setting up Signcut

I set up signcut to work in USB mode, and I have cut some letters out of the included vinyl starter rolls, and I have not broke any blades yet! ;-). I am having difficulty importing graphics to print/cut, I have installed inkscape and tryed to import shapes to the signcut program and the screen stays blank after I use "shift-import" and pick the file I saved into the import folder of signcut and it shows the signcut main screen with no graphic. I am a quick learner, but the interface is not very intuitive. -Harold
