  1. I have been having lots of annoying problems with my cutter. It will stop in the middle of a job and cut a straight line to the left or right up the roll, turning my 24" vinyl roll into two 12" rolls. It will sometimes pause while cutting, then resume and the rest of the graphic will not be lined up with what was previously cut. Now I have notices that the display gets scrambled when it starts to cut. Anyone else having any of these problems? This thing is headed for the recycling bin.
  2. I have the MH721. I bought it Dec. 2006. I have been having problems with for some time. I have posted many issues on this forum with no real answers.
  3. I've asked this question many times, but have never gotten an answer. My cutter will pause in the middle of cutting. When it does it makes a noise that I would say sounds like grinding. When this happens it gets out of alignment. Text cut after that doesnt line up and if letter were not complete like an "O" the inside cut is off. Job has to be recut. Waste of time and money. Should I have spent more and just bought a decent cutter? I'm very frustrated with this thing.

    out of alignment

windows xp parellel connection I didn't have any luck the last time I tried the serial connection, and since the usb was more complicated and the other methods seem to be the prefered, thats what I've been using. I remember the old pen plotters use to pause in the middle of plotting all the time and never had these issues. The noise the cutter makes, leads me to believe its some kind of hardware issue.

    out of alignment

This is definitely not a tracking issue. The last time this happened I was cutting 1.5" lettering that was about 18" x 36". That's not that large. In the middle of the word "Residential" it happened and "tial" was cut about 1/4" lower than "Residen".

    out of alignment

I've checked that and the wheels are in the groove. This only happens when it pauses in the middle of cutting, usually on large jobs so that I can waste more material.

    blade angle

How do I know what blade angle to use? I'm using a 45 that is peeling up vinyl and small lettering and detailed stuff. The blade is not too deep. Would a 30 be better? 60? thanks
  8. MH721 Artcut LPT1 I have asked these questions before but no one has come up with answers yet. My machine will stop very abruptly in the middle of cutting, usually accompanied by some noise. When it starts cutting again, the rest of the graphic is shifted. For instance, if it cut the outside of an O and then went back to cut the inside, they would be off or not cocentric. The text on that same line also is shifted. This must be a hardware issue that I would like to get fixed. I also have a problem that I've heard others complaining about. That is the machine quitting in the middle of a job and cutting a line, sometimes to the left till it hits the stop and sometimes right up the vinyl, either ruining the job or wasting lots of vinyl. Please help before I throw this thing in the trash.

    where are you from

  10. When it stops abruptly it must slip or something cause it makes a bad noise and then is out of alignment. I'll try the serial port though, thanks. Are these problems something I'm gonna have to live with? Have you had problems with your machine. I know these cutters are inexpensive but.... Someone asked me where I got my cutter but I'm afraid to say, because of the problems I've been having I don't want to recommend them. In fact I'm considering switching to something else.
  11. was this problem resolved? how is memory upgraded? will it resolve any problems or enhance performance?
  12. I am having the same problem with my cutter and I am using artcut (lpt1), so I dont think its the software. I think its a memory issue, since it doesnt happen when cutting small graphics. Can the memory be upgraded on the MH721?
  13. Can anyone tell me where the blade offset setting is in Artcut? I had to re-install the program and now the cuts are not closed. My cutter is still going haywire in the middle of cutting. It will just take off and cut a line right up the roll, pretty much ruining my work and vinyl. Does anyone know what is going on? I'm getting real frustrated with this thing.
  14. I'm guessing close is the offset? Nothing says offset.

    artcut won't open

Does anyone have any answers as to why this program would work fine for three months and now all of a sudden stop working? I have people waiting on vinyl, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

    artcut won't open

I feel the same way. I've gotten use to the piece of junk and have lots of designs already done that I need to cut. If I cant get artcut to work then I wont be able to export the files to any other program. I'm screwed! What operating system are you using? I have windows 2000.

    artcut won't open

I am having the same problem with artcut. I've reinstalled it, put the graphic disc in and it does nothing. Can I trade this in for signcut?
  18. Does anyone out there using Artcut know where I can find the send arc command checkbox? Has anyone had similar problems?
  19. MH721 Artcut Windows 2000 Ocassionally when the cutter stops (abruptly) in the middle of cutting, it gets out of alignment and will cause that letter not to close and rest of the text on that line does not line up. Do you know what causes this?
  20. Do you know where I can find that setting? I've looked and can't find it.
  21. This sometimes happens on simple text without a lot of nodes. When there are too many nodes, like what just happened a minute ago, the blade will go off on a tangent and cut a line diagonally right across the vynil. Is there anything I can do or is this just something I will have to live with with this machine?
  22. I was having the same problem. I found that my file contained alot of nodes. For example, a square had hundreds of nodes instead of just the four it needed. I deleted the unecessary nodes and I had better luck, although I don't know if its totally fixed the problem. Maybe a memory issue, I'm not sure. Hope that helps.
  23. I have had the same problem, and it was caused by too many nodes also. Part of what I was cutting was drawn in Autocad(I've been using it for 20 yrs. so it was easier for what I was doing). When it was imported into Artcut, it had thousands of nodes. Straight lines 2" long would have hundreds of nodes when it only needed 2. After deleting unnecessary nodes, I didnt have any more problems.
  24. Is there a trick to keep the vinyl from "walking over" on long runs? When cutting stripes the vinyl seems to be moving over and therefore not finishing where it started. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    walking vinyl

How can I make sure the tension is even? Trial and error or is there a way to measure it?
