I was searching the other day for camouflage vinyl and came across some wood grain but the price was very high, like $250 for 24" x 10 yards or less.

Received my Laserpoint tonight via FedEx but had to take my kids to football practice so I have yet to open the box. I think I will wait until tomorrow and do an unboxing video. It's like the night before Christmas!

If they can't budget the lexan then they will need a good primer, good paint, good vinyl, and a good installer. I would never place my work in jeopardy of being considered "shoddy" because the substrate was not ready to have my vinyl applied. Sometimes it is best to walk away from a job if the customer is unwilling, or unable, to ensure an adequate surface for you to apply your work. -
They both may need to be cleaned up some but should get you started.

Everyone I have ever seen at a show has used the stand. The stand makes it so much easier, one less table to take. Some places wont allow you to bring tables so you are stuck with what they provide and that may not work. I also agree that you should remove the cutter for transport and then reassemble once on site.

More then likely it is cardboard, he never showed anything in detail so it could really be anything.

You beat me to it! I was designing the same thing....

Post your display/event set ups!
devildog replied to xJoey Dubsx's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
When I lived in North Carolina, friends of mine had a cutter and would go every weekend to different shows. They always made up a bunch of decals ahead of time that were related to the event they attended, i.e. car shows = car stickers, gun show = gun stickers, etc., or what ever was the best sellers. They would bring a table to display their decals (if not provided by the staff), computer, cutter, couple of chairs, and a large display case (kind of like you see knives displayed in at flea markets) to sit on the table, all their tools, and a "cash box" of some sort. They would "stick" the decals to the display case so people could see them and then lift the Plexiglas display to grab a sticker if sold. The setup worked very well and they averaged $300-$500 a weekend. As stated, the computer and cutter along with all their tools were always present so they could cut additional decals as needed or create a new one that a customer requested. They would always get asked to change some text on a decal to suit the customers needs and would almost always accommodate them if they paid for it up front. They could usually return in 30 minutes to pick it up. -
See that's what I was thinking it was......someone simply put a bow on the DU head. Maybe the OP can give us a better idea of what he was referring to.

How much vinyl? Can you give us an idea of what is going to be printed on the signs? Any graphics, logos, what text, what size font, custom fonts, any custom design work being performed? How much cutting are we talking about? Prices can vary dramatically depending on how much work goes into it. If a customer wants a custom font you don't have and need to buy, your price can jump incredibly. Same goes for having to design custom art work. Details man, details!

Welcome from across the pond!

I did a graphics search for a female duck head and can not find any with bows other then Daisy Duck. The one you saw may have been a one off design.
-
Is it this duck head, just with a bow? Or something different?
-
Much better size and another great video!

Man, that looks like a very basic script font. Is he adamant on using that exact script or can you get away with something close? The problem here is that if this is a Autodesk only font, and not a Windows font, you may not be able to replicate it. I did a search for it and can find no reference to it.

Again, I didn't even see it when I first looked at it. I think we have a lot of members with eyes for detail so that is why it was caught. In the future, just use "justified" on your text and it will always fit the space you are working with evenly.
