I'm glad i have room here on the farm because the way things are going I could not afford a secondary location like i once could have very easily. How about an insulated enclosed trailer in the driveway? Just thinking out loud, i guess.

Gold leaf or just the color gold? BIG difference. I have done cold installs, and while i hate them, they can be done. Pick a relatively "warm and sunny" no wind day and go for it. I prefer to apply dry using the hinge method and that would not change for the weather. I would hit the vinyl with a little heat afterward. If my guy was applying (he is MUCH better at it than i am) he would hit the clean, taped panel with heat and immediately apply. My argument would be that heating before application would cause more moisture than i like to deal with but he is the expert. For semi's, equipment, or large trailers we (and by we .. i mean he) always apply in my barn which is not heated but can be shut down out of the wind. Not too bad unless its 10 or less... Then its a total bi*ch. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes. If they want gold leaf .. they can afford to find you a warm shop. That's my vote. Good luck!

Your design shows polish. I REALLY like it. That kinda stuff is your bread and butter. If you can nail them all like you did this one .. you'll go far.

Yes always weld. Nice work. Was your customer happy?

Life lesson #37 One should carry a shirt like this in the tool box of your truck or the saddlebags of your horse/bike. Just in case you want to get backstage at a Shooter Jennings Concert. Nice job!

You just gave me an idea. I'm making "Prospect" shirts for my young'uns. Nice work!

Too bad its off. My OCD would not have allowed that out of the shop .. i would have trimmed the coro. Oh well .. now you know! This job is nothing but a series of real world learning experiences strung together with just enough money to keep you interested. Good Luck!

Nice job. I've never used Siser products. Have you used Thermoflex? If so, how do they compare?

That episode killed me. We call them "credit card bikers" and recently decided that if you ain't carrying something the cops would chase you for .. you're one of them. We're in the clear.. they'd totally chase us. Whew.

Comic sans and then you filled it with dark beer!? I oughta .. Sweet! Love the flame job! I just "Harleyed up" my tanning bed. Our buddy Bob says it makes me look tanner. (Tanner? Does that sound right? If not just use "more tan".) So tell me folks is a blasting cabinet the way to go? My guy is a recently disabled hyper-active roofer. Getting him something to do would be a great xmas gift for me.

I see that this post is old and probably quite dead but what the hell. When i bought my very first set up in 2000, I got a PNC-5000 and Flexi Sign Pro 6.6 with a legitimate key for around $6k. At the time it was worth the money and although i look back and laugh a little i wouldn't change it. I upgraded that 6.6 to 7.2 legitimately (If i remember correctly .. or was it 7.6?). Anyways i paid way more money than it was worth. A few months later I was having trouble with my copy installing on my laptop and was informed that I could get another site license for about $1200. I explained that I was not interested in a second site license .. i was fine with using the one key on my desktop for the few times a year i needed to output with the laptop. They suggested i upgrade again. Hang on .. don't i get a free upgrade since i just payed to upgrade? No go. I had just written them a check worth a couple grand months before and here they were asking for more money. Went backwards to 7.0v2 and have stayed happy for many, many years. SA is a crappy company trying to peddle overpriced heavy software that just no longer has a place in our market. That being said, I do love me some Flexi. No doubt. I feel no guilt installing a keyless outdated version of Pro (that by rights I did once pay SA for) on every computer i walk by.

As long as there is no seam down the center of the hood, I would use a heat transfer material. Cut, press .. done. I prefer Thermoflex but there are many brands of heat transfer material out there.

..to have found a sign board that has a little spunk!

It must me a regional thing, eh?

Those darned females! heh I second the "good luck" part. My advice is make sure your credit is gleaming, get really good at endless paperwork, and start praying. luck is what you make it credit is trashed, paperwork i don't even know how to write, as for praying i love to do it. I hope you're really, really ... reeeeeeaaallly good at it.

You drove "down there"? We might be neighbors. As for layering vinyl .. what software are you using? The easiest way until you can "eye it up" is to make yourself registration marks. Pick up the top color with your apptape and lay it down on the bottom color using the registration marks. Easy peasy. Just wanted to comment on that dragon again. Wow.

I need an ATV, ideally with a rider in the mud. If anyone has anything like that they could pass along I would be very grateful. If not, ill have to take the time to draw one up. It would save me a ton of time tomorrow! Thanks guys! Oh and I have plenty to offer in return!

How are you making these? They look really nice.

I agree with both points here. Using the adhesive side out on a window app is not a good idea. Unless i'm running some kind of a special, I refuse to turn on my plotter for less than $10. The only people who balk at that either want something for nothing or are "one small decal" customers that i will never see again. I started this business like you, as a second income. The biggest mistake i made was undercharging because i did not feel confident in my work. That is EXTREMELY hard to come back from. When you start charging accurately, the friends and family who paid your low starter prices will have a hard time understanding why you are asking so much more now. I am a couple hours North of the twin cities in a rural area. I charge $25 an hour for art prep if I'm keeping the design in-house. If i supply them with the artwork on a disk they are going to pay an extra $125 for it and can then take it wherever they want. To cleanup that logo was an immense task and you blew it out of the water. GREAT JOB! Maybe instead of charging them more money for it they will let you tag their window with your info? What kind of plotter are you running? An hour to cut that seems steep. The weeding will get faster too .. i promise. You have a knack! You should be very proud of this piece.

Wow .. daytime and this place still has a pulse? *faints*
