I have a bit of a grudge about printers. The cost of inks and heads etc. They are a money pit. I sell a how to build a Teardrop caravan book online and decided to go round car boots sales selling the book on cds. So i printed out all 1200 pages with a half page photo on each page so people could see what they were buying..the printer ate ink! In the end I bought a epson eco tank printer (had tanks you filled up with bottled ink) which was a breath of fresh air in the world of printers.

Dont know how I got into all this! Never heard of a vinyl cutter 4 weeks ago! I make original art works. I use at present an art projector which I project my drawing/graphic onto a canvas and pencil the outline then hand paint it. Then i have mdf letters cut and fixed to the canvas and finish with led neon normally on the letters. I wanted a way how to make stencils to make each piece quicker to produce and then spray with my airbrush. Did think of mylar stencils but you lose the small island detail which you can have with vinyl stencils. So each design once designed, can be cut out, stuck on and sprayed and then removed. Design saved and recut for next one.

I may just have a play with some of the inkjet printable vinyl to have a go at contour cuts etc

Ok thanks. I'm doing it more for a hobby so will stick to vinyl and stencils etc

So if your charging for a job are you making money on the design and cutting? If your paying someone else for the printing?

Thanks for all that, seems printing on vinyl is not really suitable for a hobbyist? When printers are thousands and inks £100 a bash ?

Thanks. The Vinylmaster Ltr version has lots of vector conversion tools but the PRÒ version has another tool bar on the left with even more tools for vectorizing.

Out of latex, solvent and thermo resin which of them is the cheapest way into printing on vinyl. Also which of the 3 is cheapest for inks? and suitable for been stood without been used for long periods? (No head clogging)

What about just for home? Not to sell. Just want a play about at the moment.

Got the link and code sent last night. It took you to the vinylmaster site and instead of downloading the demo you put the code into the download box and downloaded the full version. Had a play last night and its seems it's the normal vinylmaster pro version 4.2. Seems very easy to navigate around. Love the help buttons and how it takes you to over 200 video lessons. Also how if you open the help side tab every part is explained. Great for a novice! It all seems to flow really well, click on any text and all the text tools open, click on a object and all object tools open. I'll have a good watch of the videos for a few weeks and then order a cutter. Seems great value for £180?

Just wondered which if any wide format printers have ink tanks? I have a normal A4 Epson printer with ink tanks, no cartridges and it saves me a fortune. Are any of the wide format printer the same with ink tanks?

Still looking at vinyl master and noticed on there website you can buy a cross grade licence? Normal version $450 crossgrades version $300. It say all you have to do to get a crossgrade is tell them what your old software was? Seems strange they will knock $150 off for that? How does it work? Why would anybody not do it?

I wanted one that i was comfortable with and i tried Signmaster pro and was impressed and then i tried Vinylmaster Pro and it had more options on the vectorize page and that's when i realized about Signmaster pro and Vinylmaster Pro not been the same version...

I tried both Signmaster and Vinylmaster demos and the Signmaster seems to be a version behind? Signmaster pro seems to have the same functions and tools as Vinylmaster LTR and Signmaster Expert seems to have the same tools and functions as Vinylmaster Pro. Im looking at the vectorize page on both? So the Pro version of both are not equal you have to go up another level on Signmaster to match the Vinylmaster version

I want to buy a Liyu DF631 cutter with vinylmaster pro software. I looked on vinylmaster site and the SC, and TC models are listed as been compatible but no mention of the DF models. Not sure if it will work ? I have messaged vinylmaster and still waiting for a reply. Has anybody used a DF with vinylmaster? Thanks

Been told by signzworld who sell the Liyu DF631in the UK that the motherboard is the same as the TC model which is listed in the supported cutters on the vinylmaster website. So they say it will work

Just wondering how small can they actually cut? Some of the stencils I've made have small sections, I can reduce the detail a bit to remove some of them? But wondering say a Liyu sc cutter how small can it cut? What happens when it tries to cut something so small? Thanks

Thanks everytime I have a look at cutters I think I'll buy that one. Then a bit of reading on here and I change my mind! Started off wanting to buy a mh 871, then changed my mind to a Liyu SC 631 then I thought might as well go for the TC 631 now I'm thinking maybe the DF631 with servo?

Hi I'm going to buy a Liyu TC631 and dont have any software at the moment. I want to be able to manipulate images jpegs etc and vectorize them and make them into stencils and also make stickers and signs etc in vinyl. At present I only have photoshop. I had a play with vectormagic which was great but a bit out of my price range at the moment. So which is the best /easiest software to get/buy ? I would like to get one from the offset that I'll love...thanks
