Wet application and multiple color layers

How do you all handle this?  Currently, I apply the top layer to the bottom layer on the bench using clear tape so I can see the registration marks, then apply the whole thing in one shot.  I think the most sensibe way would be to apply the first layer to the sign blank, then the next and the next with a light spray of app fluid between layers and aligning the registration marks at each layer.

Sound about right?

I do it both ways, depends on how large it is.

If you apply wet on the sign, how do you line up the registration marks through the paper app tape?  Same would apply if you were to apply the top to the bottom on the bench wet.  You would still need to use paper app tape.

Wet paper application tape is more transparent then dry...
