CR630 Newbie help please

Recommended Posts

Just got my hands on a pcut CR630.

post-92889-0-46777500-1433197014_thumb.j

My intention is to cut some decals for my model aircraft but before i get anywhere near my goals i need to get a few things straight in my head.

As ive mentioned the plotter is a Creation P-cut CR630, yet when i switch in on its shows as a CT630 on the lcd screen,is this normal,  it also it has a red dot pointer near the blade...  is this also normal for this model??

Next is i have a couple of laptops one running windows 7 and the other running windows 8.1 which OS would be best to run it on and also what would the best software be to use with this model plotter?? as there seems to be an abundance of different ones out there and while im on the subject of software im struggling to find the correct usb driver as its not available on the creation website...

Once i get these questions answered i can then try and get the plotter up and running and get to learning all the good stuff :)

Many thanks in advance Dave

You might try the free signblazer download here on the site. I don't know if it is compatible with windows 7 but that would be my first try if I were you. There is a pretty large following of the program here on the forum, I'm sure one will happen by with a few more particulars.

A good way to go at least to get up and running is to try out the SignCut Pro cutting program. They have a free 7 day trial and then you can pay as you go for service. This is not a design program only a bridge program to take your design to the cutter. For design you will need a vector based program like Inkscape (free great program) or something you pay for like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw etc....

I ran a P-Cut for several years and once dialed in they can do some nice work. They have their limitations but if you are doing fun little projects like you show it's a good starter machine. There is plenty of help on the forum if you get stumped and can't find any info but most every problem or question seems to have been asked at one time or the other.

Yeah it should do me just fine for the min Goose,  especially as it only cost me £80 about $122 in that stuff you use across the pond :)
