MH721 blade will not go up or down

MH721 blade seems to be stuck down as if the magnet will not release in the carriage, any help would be great, can't seem to find a new carriage in the uk

my first guess is a z-chip on the mainboard if it had been working fine before.  you can take the cover off the carriage and try touching a 9v battery to the wires to see if it reacts - if it does then change the z-chip - if it doesn't then carriage

I sent a mb for a refine to uk a while back and the shipping sucks.  I have some z-chips that can send first class but it is riskier and still not totally cheap but may be cheaper

I had a search on google, just missed one on ebay last week, but it did not sell, so I have messaged the guy, hopefully he will get back to me, I will let you know

the z-chip as I recall sits in a socket right under the fan (was either that or the memory) - so replacement is easy, unplug old one and plug in new one
