Newbie!! Please help?

Recommended Posts

Im new to the Cutter World and also new to posting in forums. I bought the Vinyl Express R31 for a hobbie. It came with a very standard Vinyl Express LXi software. I have 3 questions:

1. Do you recommend Corel Draw of Adobe Illustrator (keep in mind this is just a hobbie and I have never used either of these programs)

2. If I purchase a Vector online. What file format does it need to be in in order to cut? Will it work in a .jpeg .png?

3. Do I need to upgrade my LXi software?

Thank you for your help!!

Welcome,,,You can use inkscape,, which is FREE software inkscape.org until you get some money for a better program, Your cutter is a REDSAIL, you could download the Signblazer UK version here on the forum, which is a FREE unlimited trial. You cannot cut a jpeg. LXI is a version of Flexi. If you look at the bottom of the import screen there should be a dropbox of different import files you can import. You can only cut vector files.
