wdcisco 0 Posted August 26, 2009 Anyone think its possible to cut foam with a uscutter? Maybe an attachment to add onto it? A homemade attachment? an attachment that is made at home that is cheap? lol Maybe you could snap a hot wire foam melter ? Just thinking guys, I wanted to add some text letters to a few walls at work.... Feel free to throw some ideas out there. Thank you!
Rodger 527 Posted August 26, 2009 John would know best as he had an upholstery shop before . I think an electric knife is used by most of the people who deal with foam . How thick is the foam & what shape are you wanting to cut it into ?
midwaste 4 Posted August 26, 2009 You might be able to score thin foamboard (3/16" maybe..) and then break it the rest of the way. USCutter sells the flatbed extensions that fit some models. I don't see how you could do a hot wire on the cutter as there has to be a connection on the bottom, which would not work with the friction-feed system, but you could certainly cut templates out of cheap vinyl or pen them on paper and make your own hot wire out of a soldering iron.
