  1. Ok.........this is weird, I have been trying the same file and it would not cut, I tried a different one and it is fine now.
  2. Test cut WORKS! So..........how come it won't work otherwise?
  3. Unit is grounded - and I am using a 10 inch by 20 inch piece of vinyl so it is not even on the roller.......... I un-plugged the cutter and still just goes in the pattern I am cutting without dropping down to actually cut.........cutter is less than a year old. :- Also have jobs waiting to be done......
  4. Out of nowhere, all of the sudden when I go to cut........the head unit moves in the pattern of the item I am cutting, but it does not drop the blade down to actually cut........worked fine yesterday, I have not done any changes. Any ideas? Thanks Lee

    Cutting Style Outlines

That did not work - I will do a screenshot and hope it helps.......... So here is the image in InkScape - notice the black portions ARE NOT LAYERS (except for the overall background) - I just unfilled the bottom layers and set the widths of the outline under Paint Style. Now this is what the same image is exported to SignCut - notice the widths of the gray layer of 419 is a single line, and not the same width as I set........ What do I need to do? Up to this point, I just used black vinyl - but I would rather use the black sign work for me instead of using black vinyl. Thanks for the help.

    Cutting Style Outlines

I posted this under the InkScape, as I am not sure if this is an InkScape or SignCut issue: I have a question regarding Inkscape and SignCut. I make number signs for demo cars, I will post the file I am working with. Now, the actual sign is black..........so, any of the black you see in the numbers and names I would like to come through from the sign, as I want to save on black vinyl. So, to achieve this, I DID NOT FILL the bottom layer, I clicked the X for Fill Color, and chose Stroke Paint, and increased the width of the outline on Stroke Style. The problem is, when I export to SignCut (for example the bottom orange layer on the number); SignCut just shows a skinny line - I did a test cut and sure enough, it just made 1 line cut, not the thickness of the outline I depicted in Inkscape. So is this impossible to do? I don't understand why it would not transfer the outline width info to SignCut.......so I ALWAYS have to use Fill Color for every layer - thus forcing me to use black vinyl in the areas shown? Any help is appreciated - thank you. Lee proof2.svg proof2.svg

Few Number Signs from Engstrom Graphics

I built a good relationship with a steel guy so each sign is bent, and holes punched at a good price. I used to do everything in house, but this is much more economical, time is money as well. I pick them up and bring them to the powder coater, who gave me a tour of the place, etc. It comes out to $2.60 for each sign to powder coat, which I think is a steal. Opposed to in house, this way saves me so much time - it is nice to cut out all the vinyl, go out to the garage and grab a sign and start applying - much more cost effective. Thanks for the compliment!

Few Number Signs from Engstrom Graphics

Anywhere from $100 to $135 - a few could be more than that. They are all 16 gauge pieces of steel.......22 inches long and 18 inches tall (16 visible) with a 90 degree 2 inch mounting lip and 5 punched holes. The signs are then powder coated black or white, and I can spray them another color if the customer prefers.
