  1. I have been looking into Revivawall http://gicleemedia.com.au/gms43/Revivawall-High-Tac-Adhesive-Textile that sells here in Australia... Suspose to print in unmodified inkjet printers. Seems to be able to use the pigment inks that are used in epson printers?
  2. Hi there! I have been thinking for a long time about buying a printer to print the new interior craze fabric wall decals. I already cut vinyl wall decals specialising in childrens rooms but I am looking to expand a little. They are repositional and eco friendly which appeals to the mum and dad market I cater for. Just wondering if anyone knows what printer I should start with? Nothing too pricy just one that will do the job at an entry level price. Thanks!

    Old vinyl removal?

Hi there! Just wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to remove old vinyl from a plastic signboard. I have to redo this board for a client and I need to clean the old stuff off first. I have tried to peel it off but its so old and brittle the vinyl is just coming off in tiny pieces. Any advice would be great..thanks!
  5. Hi and thanks everyone for your replies! Yeap the customer is always right no matter how much u argue with them ( many years of retail experience has taught me that). So my idea is when the customer has an issue with my decals i will do whatever is required to make them happy even if it means giving their money back. I think i am just more comfortable with applying them myself ....control freak alert! Thanks everyone u have given me food for thought!!
  6. Hi everyone...I have a question regarding customers. I have a small 'mum at home' business creating wall decals for homes and have done some work for businesses like signage on cars and horse floats. I do everything from scratch ...my designs came straight from my sketchbook into illustrator cut to my roland. I did a market a few weeks ago and sold about two decals ... Decals are a little scary to the Australian market they haven't quite taken off like in the states. But one came back to me within an hour with the customer complaining that it would not stick to his wall at home... My husband swears it felt wet as though he had used a wet method to put it up although I supplied instructions on how to correctly apply it dry. I took the decal from him took the backing paper off and applied it to the wall in front of him obviously using my magical powers. He stood there still saying 'well its not working on my wall'...I began to give him some reasons why it may not have stuck but he was getting a little edgy and I gave him the money back to get him away from my stall. Bear in mind this was a tiny owl decal around 4 x 6 inches. I am wondering if creating decals and posting to customers is such a good idea. I have been doing them for a few years now this way on Ebay and more recently Etsy...but I think this guy threw me a little and now I am hesitant to keep going posting to customers and hoping they apply the decal correctly.I have only had one other person tell me that they had trouble getting the backing paper off. I do sell some big ones that I wonder how the customer is going to put them up? I do supply detailed instructions and hints and tips for application. Anyone else had customer application problems and opted out because of it.?

    Oracal 638 wall art vinyl

Hi Ravenwind....thanks for your reply ...looks like I have to go to the overseas manufacturer....emailing them now...thanks again!
  8. Hi everyone, I am hoping a few fellow Aussies may be around here on the boards at the moment as I need to track down a supplier. I am after the Oracal 638 wall art vinyl. I have contacted AGS in NSW, Major Tom in S.A. to get the vinyl. Major Tom have exactly what I want but cant supply me as I am in NSW. AGS can supply the vinyl but they only stock it in the 1200 width. I have a roland GX-24 and need to have the 630mm width. They told me that they can cut the roll in half for me but I will then have way too much wastage. I am a home business just doing wall decals and I cannot afford to order meters I dont need just to get the vinyl. Anybody know any other supplier that will deliver to NSW and in the 630mm rolls. Thanks
  9. Hi everyone.. I have a customer at the moment who needs a sandwich board to sit on the top of the car whilst it is parked in front of hes store. Anyone let me know the best type of sandwich board would be suitable for this?? thanks in advance
  10. Hi everyone!! I have spent a while looking through the forums looking for the answer to my question but I have been unable to find anything. I am having an issue with applying application tape to my decals. The smaller decals are not so bad but the larger ones can be a nightmare. I have lost money on my last job having already wasted 7foot of white vinyl trying to apply tape to a branch decal. The problem is that the tape wrinkles and tunnels and then gets worse once I roll up the decal to post in a cylinder. Quite honestly most of my decals will tunnel and wrinkle once I roll them up then if I unroll them they can look hideous and I then chuck them in the bin!!!I know the vinyl is not harmed by the wrinkles etc ( I roll the decal with the tape side on the outside) and have advised my customers that this can happen and not to worry but I just hate the look and wonder where I am going wrong. I used 24" transfer rite app tape and Avery 700 vinyl. Anyone help!!
  11. Hi smalltimer....I am a registered business designing boutique vinyl wall decals specializing in childrens designs that are all 100% my original artwork ( no clip art) and I am a work -at -home mum. 95% of my sales are via Ebay where I have a store..and the other 5% word of mouth. As vinylmotivations mentioned you will sell your work on Ebay but for a lot less profit but I must admit that Ebay was great for building a customer base and alot of my customers now contact me direct when they are after another decal. Now after 2yrs on Ebay I am seriously looking to start my own website and revamp my business. I have just started to design my new website, redesign the logo and business cards, rearrange my designs, catalog them together in a portfolio and flyer. As far as getting seen carry your business cards with you for any opportune moments , start a blog ( great for showing customers your new designs, the process of putting the design together and because our customers don't actually see us over a counter a blog gives clients a chance to 'meet' you.)again like vinylmotivations said get a facebook page and a nice big graphic on your back window telling people where to find you! I know theres lots of people on Etsy doing vinyl graphics but to get noticed you only need to produce something different to everyone else!! to set up a shop is quick and easy and importantly free! ( fees are charged according to your listings and sales) but it is a great way to test the waters and get your name out there! Good luck!!
  12. Hi I have been unable to get on these forums recently but have just come in and checked on a question I posted called "what to charge?!' on the 10th june. I have found the topic has been locked I would say from an 'disagreement' regarding banners and pricing ( sorry there was so many posts argueing back and forth that I quickly scanned through them and jumped straight to the end to see if anyone had posted a reply for me). I would like to thank the first two furnco60 and bannerjohn for their advice.
  13. Hi everyone, I have been working on a design for my daughters riding instructor to go on her gooseneck. I havent completely finshed the trailer yet (needs a little pinstriping etc) but she wants me to bill her for work so far. I have spend approx $300 on the vinyl (glitter vinyl) I have produced the logo design myself from scratch ( yes started on a sketchbook and vectorised). I spent a day installing the vinyl on both sides of the trailer and three hearts with text cut in to each one and her phone number on the tailgate. Problem is I have no idea what to charge her!!! of course I will charge the above $300 for the vinyl but as far as the logo design, its eps file ( she wants to use it on her car etc) and installation of the vinyl I have no idea! This is the first big job I have done and it turned out a lot bigger than expected...My business is wall art specialising in childrens rooms. Check out the photo below and let me know what you think is a fair price. Thanks!!!
