MH721 is Junk
Cable Tech replied to insanevinyls's topic in USCutter Equipment Feedback or Suggestions
I have had a 721 for about a year now. I pray every time i turn it on that it will work properly. So far so good. I have paid for it twice over just by doing stuff for family and friends. I realize that if it quit today, that i would be content and probably look for spending more for a better cutter like a graphtec, Roland, etc... Sorry to hear about the cutter, but we get what we pay for. good luck -
How about this one.. DRILLBIT.EPS DRILLBIT.EPS

USB Cable or SERIAL Cable?
Cable Tech replied to grafixsigns's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
Serial all the way. If your computer doesn't have a serial port, then buy a serial expansion card or buy a used computer that has one and dedicate that computer just to cut with. -
Not a problem. I didn't create it, but I looked all over for it. It took me a while to find it. I'm not even sure where I found it So I can't give anyone credit. I think it is the best one I've ever seen so far. Plus it is small and can slip easily into finished vinyl packages.

I may be wrong but I didn't think the MH-721 supported contour cutting. I havent kept up on the forums lately and maybe something has changed with this cutter?? I thought only the laserpoint worked for contour cutting in this level of cutter. If it does, someone enlighten me on how to get it to work. :-

I am no professional by no means. Just giving you my opinion. I think the phone number needs to come down. Kinda blends in with the white shadow of the cat. Kinda hard to see at the first glance. Other than that i think that it is nice!!

Flexi sign driver to run 721 refine
Cable Tech replied to Poot25's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Well I happen to have Flexi 8.1 and the 721 Refine also and I have been cutting with no problems. I am using a serial cable. Don't mess with USB. No drivers needed. When setting up your cutter in Flexi, just select a ROLAND cutter and then the PNC-1000 model. The Refine isn't listed but this works fine... Have fun with Flexi. Since I got it It's the only program I use now. -
Here is the one I use: instructions.pdf instructions.pdf

I guess he stopped filling requests. No response at all. ah well......

Does anyone have this in .eps by chance please??
-
Request has been yesterday. I haven't received them and don't want to call and bug you. I would be willing to pay something for each one if you would ask. There are some clips here that I just haven't seen anywhere else.

That makes me feel better. I've had one for a few months now with no problems at all. It runs perfectly and consistently. It doesn't cut very small detail very good, weeding is a nightmare, but getting the clean cut blade helped a lot. I don't use mine as much as you do, so I hope it will last at least as long as yours has so far.

In the past you couldn't find an lcd monitor at a yard sale. Just big ass CRT monitors that weigh 50 pounds. It would make me nervous to buy one even that cheap unless I seen it working. You got lucky!

Nice find BannerJohn!! I love yard sales too. Sometimes I can find a deal like that at an auction. I'll give ya $20 for it.

What is you blade of choice?
Cable Tech replied to RPM Graphics's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
Agreed with everyone else. Just get a 60 degree CleanCut Blade and you won't be sorry. I use it for everything. There is no need to use anything else. Period.. -
Looks good Mader. Has very nice appealing colors to it. I too am designing a logo for my sisters work truck. They have a dodge ram with an extended cab, and I am debating on whether to put it on the front door or the back door. That Ram lettering is messing it all up. Makes it seem overcrowded and too "busy" on the panel. They probably won't let me take them off. Will post my design picture soon and see what you guys think....

Type of Roland Blade
Cable Tech replied to Paradox's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
http://www.cleancutblade.com/ct_PRrold-60.htm This is the one for the Refine. -
Yes they are awesome. It brought new life to my MH-721 Refine. I had problems getting smaller letters to weed properly. This blade definitely solved a lot of that. It still doesn't cut like a Graphtec by no means, but it makes it bearable. Just get the 60 blade. Don't mess with a 45. I can't remember, but I'm sure the one for the Refine would be this one: Roland 60 degree Solid ultrafine grain carbide tip, brazed to a hardened steel shank. Fits Roland camm1,Allen Datagraph, Graphityp, CSR ecom-2, Stika, Vinyl Express not Q series. Primarily for 12+ Mil. vinyl.

I recently installed the 60 clean cut blade I ordered. I've got it adjusted and cutting better than the original blade. I still had problems after I installed it, so it definitely required a lot of tweaking. Its almost where it should be. I still have some weeding problems on fine letters and details, but definitely better. I really can't say that using the Cleancut blade fixed most of the problem, or the fact that I spent a longer time this go around to tweak everything until I got it the best I could. I've come to realize that my MH-721 will probably never cut perfect and I am fine with it It will do until I can invest in a Graphtec/Roland. The Clean Cut blades are sharp and are damn built solid. Almost 3 times thicker than the US cutter blades. It sure looks like this thing will last a long, long time.

Can't get USB to Serial adapter to work
Cable Tech replied to lionsnwings's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
You must be using a laptop. If not, get a true serial pci card and install it. I've seen them on Ebay for like $7. Did you get the Dynex -
My MH-721 doesn't either. It resets every time to --> Speed=24 Force=100. No matter what I do, it always defaults to these settings. It generally cuts Oracal 651 good at those settings for me so I just leave it there.
-
I recently ordered a 60 blade. Hopefully will be here tomorrow or Monday. I'll let everyone know how it does. My 721 will hopefully cut smaller letters better. Weeding is a pain in the a**. For such a small price, it can't hurt to try it.

Ok getting ready to order one but which one do I get for the Refine MH-721 ? I emailed them and they haven't responded yet.

Try this out. I'm no designer by a long shot. I just played with it. The words were kinda hard to read. I added a white outline around the letters to separate the black and purple from blending in too much. Seems easier to read to me. lhac.eps lhac.eps
