I felt that I needed to add this--I am not saying that what the person that put the info on the forum isn't true, what I am saying is that there is two sides to every issue and we have only heard one. What should have happened is that this should not have been on the forum at all. If you use sand you have to use breathing equipment due to the broken down silica that gets in your lungs------you will get silicosis---which is a sure fire killer

Don't use sand without breathing equipment because it will give you silicosis alot faster than you think. The cabinet I used to use was a crystal blast they cost around $5500.00 I got rid of it when I built my self a small blast room (it is appr. 4'x8'with a 5' handhole) that you stand on the outside and do the blasting and the dust is vented to the outside. The blast room gives me the room to do big objects and I built a table with a tilt top so that I can do a bunch of pavers at once. I use aluminum oxide because you can recover it and reuse it. Black beauty is a coarse abrasive and it won't be able to do the real fine stuff. I start out with 100 grit aluminum oxide and as I use it gets finer and finer then I store it for etching glass.
