Even taking an old junker and wrapping will make it look much better! only issue would be for warranty issues for the wrap. As long as you properly clean the vehicle it will last. If the paint is peeling off etc. wrap will show imperfection. Theres a limit to everything and best judgment will be used. thats why some people use a matte laminate so it hides a lot of imperfections. As for comparing the two, Wraps are better for these reasons 1. Cheaper 2. Wrap can be done from design print and install in a week. 3. Say you scratch the wrap, no problem just print out the panel and install. ( If its paint it will cost 3x the price of wrap and will take a lot longer to repaint. 4. Before wrapping vehicles I was a full time painter. I would wrap my own vehicle first! 5. wraps save the two most important things TIME and MONEY!!!! Wraps all around are a much better choice.

Actually, the wrap holds up great on the sides of a boat. Just use the 3m primer where needed and use good material and it will be fine. I have wrapped many Fountain powerboat up to 47 footers and they last. Basically i would say the life of a wrap is about 3-5 years depending on who installed and how you take care of it.
