Weeding Tweezers - .39 cents with free shipping
locknload1 replied to Stlouistech's topic in General discussion
Same here, I love those things! -
Received your sample just now. And I have got to confess about the Avery reflective not being any good. The reflective I have that tears easy is Oralite 5700. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! Bought from "tigandbaby" off Ebay. I have some Arlon 2450 here that is equal to the 3M, but it dont have a label on the inside. Bought from "worldwidesignssupplies" on Ebay. So the 3M and this Arlon vinyl I have here is great for tear resistance. Avery, I dont know. So I learned something today thanks to your sample. Nothing like a friend who sets me straight. eBay vinyl, otherwise known as "shelf paper" I learned the hard way that this stuff goes bad after a very short period of time.

Dude That is the worst advice ever given. There is no exception in the copyright law that says you can make for your own use. Copyright is copyright. Cop Alert Cop Alert Not what I would expect from someone with a name like "freebird1963", I'd fully expect you to have a hydrophonic garden in your basement... LOL! -
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Just received my back ordered 48"X 5 meter roll of white reflective! Still waiting on two other rolls and a few more sample rolls I ordered from MacTac of screen protector, printable white and some overlaminates...
-

"Caveat emptor" I always expect to pay a little more when I buy without some serious pre sale negotiating with a live body. -
Dont buy a US Cutter

Not just one person's opinion! Same problems here. I've had a MH721 for 9 months and have not had one good cut from it yet. It's a piece of crap...to put it politely! Someone once said "It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools". That said, I get great results from my $180.00 P-Cut! -

For what it's worth, I keep a roll of 24" X 500' art paper (I got it for $14.99) by my machine and my pen holder handy in the event I want to test run something I'm either trying to save vinyl cost on, or have just enough of a particular type of vinyl for so I'm not storing a ton of roll ends or buying 10 yd rolls just for 5'. The kids also love it when I lay it out on the table to draw on and the family puts it to use on our poolside "crab boil" days. I've even used it as gift wrap. -
Got a bunch of little bitty pieces... OK to cover Bic lighters I suppose.
-
Just got a 54" X 5 meter roll of the perforated stuff you see on busses. going to cut some of it into 14x19 pieces for use in my WF1100. :'( Reflective stuff is on "back order"... so, they're sending a roll of printable white and a roll of 5-7 yr overlam while I wait.

Janator supply, Stone and tile stores sell durable ceramic and stone sealers by the gallon for about $14-$22. You see it as a shiny finish on concrete floors in warehouses and food prep areas.

WARNING TO EVERYONE!!!!

roger i can agree with you on most of the points. but i just don't see this kinda lawsuit for just one sticker. if you read the law they have to 1st send you a C & D then and only then can they take you to court. i know that we all have cut copyrighted stuff some of us just got caught. sorry for the rant earlier but it's like reading a great book and the last chapter is torn out, it just sucks! ohwell i hope all is well with her Reminds me more of those alien encounter/abduction documentary shows where someone tells a story then a bunch of people give their entertaining impression of why they believe it to be true and then it ends without even showing an alien. For all we know the US Copyright Office started a bunch of these stories in sign forums only to force the fear into those of us challenged by the ethics dilemma associated with this industry. But then, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Anyone have a vector of a Disneyland logo they care to share? LOL! -
Anything is worth a try at this point... http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,17124.0.html Sorry about the lowball offer, dumb joke.

Thank's, I'll download it when I get home.

I HATE WEEDING WHITE! Thanks for the tip, even if it did leave the edges dirty I'd try it!

If you go to the original posters profile you can click on recent posts and read a few entrys she posted on the subject. Looks like as of July therens nothing else posted by her... wonder is she's been taken to guantanamo bay? -
I let my blade stick out about an 8th inch otherwise it rubs and sometimes catches the vinyl. Ben that way for over two years with no issues.

$100

How about the carriage and race? not a chance they could be loose, bent or have debris on either one that's causing the blade to strike?
-
I didn't think about the fact that 80 degree days are long gone in some parts of the country. It was 86 degrees here two days ago. You could always just mask and rattle can it... I've done that to bad rusty metal before.

Is your cutting strip smooth and seated properly?

As long as it's on the outside it shoild be visable solo, all depends on the lighting and ambient background however. If your customer has left the decision up to you I'd go with a contrasting outline/background though.

Several manufacturers have printable goods for rough/masonry surfaces at a premium but I have installed MacTac 9800 on painted brick before using lots of prep a heat gun and a felt squeegy. I first cleaned the surface with TSP then wiped once again with 70% alcohol and waited about a half hour before applying. It was a light adhesion but after almost a year it's still up. You could apply a test patch and see how it holds up or even offer to maintain it for a monthly fee which is something I do for a few customers that have alley signage in an area prone to vandalism.

Looking (and measuring) a few pilsner glasses I have with etchings and imprints I can see that they didn't make any adjustments at all and they look good to me.
