    Thanks to all of you!

Thanks for the reply. I did slow the speed to 20 and the blade seems right. I was thinking it should be out a bit more as it doesn't mark the backing at all. I'm not sure it should but with the craft robo you could clearly see where the cuts were made by looking at the backing paper.

    Thanks to all of you!

I was good and waited until Christmas to actually put a blade in and try cutting. I got a few different rolls of vinyl to start with. My first try was with a holographic film that I used 60 degree blades on. I did a test seemed to cut well, so I tried making a license plate. The cutter cut well but weeding small letters with this stuff is tough. letters lift off the backing paper very easily. I did get it finished anfd I think it looks good. The cutter works good and I'm happy.

    Thanks to all of you!

I finally got the time to start setting this cutter up. After reading the newbie manual and the forum posts of people having problems, I crossed my fingers and fired it up. I powered it up and everything worked like in the newbe manual said. I installed SB, then plugged in the USB cable. It was a little rough here for me because I wanted to install the driver from the supplied disk but VISTA immediately began searching windows update for drivers. I let it do it's thing and it said the drivers were installed. I checked the comm port settings and went into SB to setup. I thought I had it set and tried a test cut, nothing happened. I restored my system to before installing the driver and tried again. Same thing. I went back to SB setup and found that there were more choices for com port settings and I finally picked the right one. I put the pen in the holder and tried the test cut square. It drew a perfect square but the pen was always on the paper. I moved the pen up in the holder a bit and it worked. Next, I made a simple graphic in SB and sent to cutter, it worked. Now I have a question. I've tried a few more graphics with the pen but I'm having trouble getting the design centered on the letter sized paper. I know it has to do with setting the origin point. What is the best way to do this? Do you just guesstimate? Any help would be appreciated befor I put the blade and some vinyl in to try it.

    Thanks to all of you!

Thanks guys, I decided to take your advise and read the nu be manual. I still haven't plugged this thing in yet. I'm hoping to read a bit more and be ready by the weekend when I have some time to play. I have some experience having used the craft robo but I need to learn this machine.
  5. I just received my new 24" Laser Point cutter. I want to thank you all for helping me decide to do this. I have been using my Craft Robo for shirts and small vehicle graphics but size limitations made me want to go bigger. So far I've managed to set up a stand for it and read the manual. The only thing I cut so far is my finger when installing the blade in the holder. My first cut and I haven't even plugged it in. I'll try not to be a pest but I know I'll have some questions. This is actually a Christmas present from my wife but she said I can set it up and make sure it works. Then she'll wrap it up! We'll see about that. Thanks for all your useful information. Steve

Trying the print on vinyl thing

I just printed 2 sheets of decals with the Papilio white waterproof vinyl. I had ordered the sample pack to try it. The graphics came out great. I let it sit over night the ran some water over it and had no runs or fading. I just ordered 2- 10 sheet packs. They sent me an email for a buy one get one free offer and I couldn't pass it up.

New to cutting, has anyone tried this media?

I agree, it says it is stained like a t-shirt with fruit juice. If it works I can think of some good uses for it. I just ordered a sample pack of their vinyl to see what it can do. I just wondered if anyone has alreadt tried it.
  8. I just got a Craft Robo and have cut a few things. It seems to work great. I was wondering if anyone has used this and does it work good? Papilio Inkjet White Waterproof Vinyl. http://texascraft.com/hps/product.php?productid=16180&cat=255&page=1 I want to do decals and some picture work the contour cut it. Any help will be appreciated.
  9. I'm new to this so it might be a dumb question. I've been trying to contour cut a page of stickers with my new Craft Robo. I print the image out on my Epson C120, then load it in the cutter. I have the paper size as letter. I go through the menu to cut but when I set auto registration it says cannot find registration marks. I followed the on screen prompts and position the blade in the green area that they show but it still wont find them. I put the blade close to the corner of the registration mark the press cut. I get a message that it may not follow contour but cut anyway. It cuts about 3/8 to a 1/2 inch to the left and about 1/8 in low. I'm currently frustrated and need some help. Thanks.
