    Add underline to font?

The image you posted works fine in SBE. SBE does not have typical font modification choices like a word processor. You can work around some of the short comings with other features like using slant for italics. Open SBE, go to "File", "Import", then select the file and click "OK". It will return to the SBE screen with a popup, click on "Use full postscript interpreter". Resize the image how large or small you want it then go to the cut screen. Click on the black color box then send it to the cutter.

    2nd Store Front

Like everybody else says, looks great cept for the number. If you wanna make a customer happy and maybe get some premo word of mouth advertising for yourself you might consider redoing the number for them. Maybe the same theme as the other letters or a reverse theme with white background and a red outline. Jest my 2
  3. Should be able to do it no problem. Also the calendered vinyl is solid in color so having it thicker should not be required to block light. Some of the cast vinyl is a little opaque. As far as thickness goes I cut my static cling material on my Pcut and it is twice as thick as the vinyl. Just adjust the blade to go through it and maybe kick up the pressure to 140. The smallest thing I've cut was some little birds out of the SBE library and I made them 4mm or less with perfect detail. The fact that you will be weeding the letters and numbers instead trying to remove the background from around them may make your task doable. I hate to weed small letters when the cuts don't finish clean.

what vinyl to buy to start out

They say Shinerite is rated at 6 yrs. outdoor life. Not like it's that contact paper stuff I've heard about from some ebay sellers.

what vinyl to buy to start out

She sells ShineRite. It's a Fellers house brand I think. I just bought a batch and so far so good. Make sure not to set the blade to deep. Mine was at first and the paper would peel off on some of the letters where it cut the skin of the paper. Made application a pain but I think I got the blade set right now.

    Readability Chart

So much of it has to do with font style and layout too. I noticed a truck in traffic this morning that had the rear window and tailgate done. The meat of the ad was all run together in the center of the window and I could not make out a single word of that after he got past my hood. He had a catch phrase like "Hiring Experience doesn't cost, It pays" that went all the way across the bottom of the rear window and I could read that good. The whole rear window was done in white. Then he had the phone number in black on a red truck on the tailgate. I could read that until he got a car length from me then it wasn't readable. The middle part of the window with his business name and purpose was all scrunched together.
  7. You will need to pull the carriage arm apart a little bit to slip it in. It is a tight fit. CRD there is not an official offset that you need to use. A lot of the time I use 0 and get pretty decent cuts. The factory setting on these machines isn't always spot on so the blade offset varies. We recommend starting with .25 mm and adjusting by .05 mm from there. I don't know what to say, I just pulled the screw completely out and pulled the arm apart until I thought it was going to break and the blade holder would NOT go in the rear hole. Maybe if I took it apart and reamed it out but I'm not going to do that or break my carriage arm when the unit works decent with it in the front. My cuts have been a little ragged and not always complete but I guess I'll have to live with that. Sure makes it a pain to weed when one character is cut completely and the next has to be pulled out.

    I'm really lost, need help

This eps image is 90 pix x 90 pix and blurry. It's like 1/2" square. The word on top is not legible at all. You will need a larger, clearer image to start.
  10. If you do a search for "blade offset" you will find a lot of info on the subject. Most seem to suggest .25. I see several mentions that the blade holder should be in the rear hole also but mine won't fit in that hole, not even if I take the pinch screw completely out it won't go in.
  11. That looks great. I still have a 10' roll of BGS frosted stuff that came in the 5 color sample pack I bought from US Cutter. Tried to do some small stuff with it and it would not weed at all. I'm thinking one day I'll try something bigger and see if this stuff is usable or trash.

Was trying to open some eps files for editing in Inkscape including some that were made BY Inkscape and none of them will open. Can this program not open/reopen eps files?

    reboot, cut, reboot, cut... Ahh!

Next time it happens try clicking on the setup and if the settings are correct just click OK and see if it works. Mine went through a spell where I had to do that but now it's fine. Also make sure you didn't forget to set your cutter online if you manually moved the rollers.

i am having problems with text

First off you can't buy the pro version any more. Search and read the stickies above and you'll find out why. I don't know why the author didn't put full featured font attributes in the SBE version. You can work around most of the short comings except not having a bold selection. The SBNTdemo in the program folder shows all the stuff you want but most of it is grayed out. Maybe one day somebody will create a unlock hack that will get it out of trial and unlock the pro stuff while they're at it. Shouldn't be illegal to do that with software that's not available from a company that's out of business but I ain't no lawyer either.
  18. I'm not trying to be a dick but seems like if the vinyl doesn't feed right without these parts and you just FOUND them in your warehouse maybe they were supposed to come with the machine.

    How to cut sign acrylic?

At work I use a acrylic cutter like this for stuff up to 1/4". http://www.artstuff.net/general_acrylic_cutter.htm I just clamp a straight edge on it, score it several times, then snap it off. To snap it you can turn it over after scoring it, clamp the straight edge along the scored line with the scored side down and pick up on the material. . Breaks really clean and straight. I have a metal sheer I use the clamp on and turn the scored side down and just pick up on the material. Thicker stuff I cut on the table saw with a 60 tooth blade and just feed it slow. Most of my stuff gets the edges milled on a milling machine but if you have an edge guard going over it you won't need it that smooth.

    Pcut Creation floor stand directions.....

O-rings are just a round piece of rubber. If your stand came with two chrome looking things with a flange on one side I think they intended the o-rings to go on those to keep them from sliding after you position them. I found if I removed them from the material rollers all together I can move the vinyl roll closer to the start position and cut all the way to the edge of 24" wide vinyl without hitting the red button that cancels the whole operation. At first I was running the back roller through the vinyl roll then I figured out I should just set the roll of vinyl on the two rollers. You need to pull off about what you think it will use or the feed will snatch the roll of vinyl off the rollers and it will land on the floor. No big deal, just an aggravation.

    Vectorizing Setting

Okay I found it but it only gives one choice then the images are not selectable. Soooo it doesn't seem to work in SBE. But to answer your question when you click on vectorise and the window opens the setup bar is at the top of that window like a file name bar. You click on the down arrow like you would if you were choosing a different file type. The only choice mine has is "Logos/Art #2 General". Aaaaaand when you click it you can not change it back to blank. It makes the vectorise function look and work different but none of the displayed images are selectable.

    ShineRite on Ebay

I came across a Ebay seller that sells small quantities of ShineRite. I bought a 10 roll deal of 15" x 10 ft. rolls for $38.95 + $14.95 S&H. Comes out to just a few cents more per ft than the lowest prices I've seen on Oracle 651 in 10 yard rolls. Makes it possible for a hobby cutter like me to get lots of different colors for not much bucks. Seller was great too, shipped next day by USPS. http://myworld.ebay.com/hometeam*1/ I've only cut one little piece so far but I think I'm gonna really like this stuff. Super glossy and pliable.

    Vectorizing Setting

Probably another one of those deals where you get instructions for SB PRO but the function isn't avaiable in Elements. I'm getting a little more comfortable with Inkscape but still have a ways to go. When doing the bitmap trace in Inkscape you can click on the colors box and end up with an EPS that almost looks just like the original image. As long as you delete the image file and save the bitmap trace as an EPS they will go straight to cut in SBE.

That thing was a pain in the butt to figure out but I'm pretty sure I got mine right. I'll try to take some pics of it tonight and post if that helps.
