kburk 2 Posted September 9, 2008 So how small is too small... I'm talking letters of course. I have a copam cp 4050 it will cut untill I can't make out the letter but how small is to small. I'm making signs for my work trucks and I keep getting a letter here or there that picks up as the cutter goes by. I'm sure there is a term for that. The nice thing is I have the Cutter for my own use...for now and it is just mystuff I'm messing up. My letters are about 5/8" sorry still working on the mm thing. My text is clear but. I would think it should cut perfict every time. The blade is new and is very very low in the holder. So much so I can barely make it out. Ken suggested that and it cuts much smoother. Could it just be a font thing. Is one font better than another. I'm using Garmond or Time new romand. Where do you get better text and graphics if you don't make them? It is a hoot though making your own stuff!! thanks Keith
mrdavid 0 Posted September 10, 2008 You may need to slow down the cutter, when I am doing fine lines and detail, I slow it down hope this helps.
kburk 2 Posted September 10, 2008 Hey thanks for the reply I have slowed it down to 10 cm/s but it still picks. I would guess that some font works better that others? :- Do you know if you can slow down the cutter speed in signcut x2 also? My setting are 10cm/2 speed 50g forse 0.40mm off set thanks keith
firemalt 10 Posted September 10, 2008 What's your blade pressure set at... too much, and that could be causing the letters to lift. As someone already mentioned... the smaller/more detail, the slower you need to cut at.
kburk 2 Posted September 10, 2008 Ok I figured as much but my cutter wont go lower than 50g And 10cm/s is a slow as it will go. I know/think my vinyl is good oracal 751 c cast So what am I doing wrong?? can I set sign cut so it cuts slower or less pressure does it work like that? firemalt 10 Posted September 10, 2008 No... the speed and pressure are set on the cutter not the software. How far is you blade sticking out of the blade holder? Are you cutting through just the vinyl, or through the vinyl + the vinyl backing?
kburk 2 Posted September 10, 2008 Ken told me today to stick it though only bearly. Just so your eye can see it. It is not wutting the backing just a small crease. It cuts really nice but when I get to P B 8 e it picks some of the letters. I will just keep fooling with it. Thank you Keith
