Combine wet & dry application techniques?

If I tape first, I get my alignments right.  With wet only, I'm having trouble with precise alignment. 

Sooo, is there anything wrong or any problems with using a combination of wet & dry techniques?  ....  In other words, I'm taping the top of vinyl (with backing) inplace on substrates, lift & wet (rapid tac), then remove backing, and finally big squegee down inplace. 

It's nice to do wet when eyeballing alignment is ok.  But, accurately placing (for me) is difficult wet.
