MH871 Carriage Replacement

Does anyone know how to replace the carriage on the MH871? I don't know how to loosen the belt to remove the old carriage. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Well I was finally able to get the belt of the old carriage and put it on the new carriage. Now I have the problem of having to solder the wires onto the circuit board and there is no indication to tell which wires (negative or positive) go to which holes. I tried to switch the wires and solder them to another hole but the light just shows up when turned on and makes a noise but doesn't show the display information. Any thoughts?
