How to do diagonal across a sunken panel

Recommended Posts

I have a job I'm going to, but need some guidance.

The logo will be going diagonal across a side of panel van, which has sunken panels(where I assume windows would be).

I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this or not, but to get everything on the same plane, I'm thinking a couple of solutions could work

#1) Cut the logo with offsets in the design to keep the edges on the same plane when installed(would have to dig my trig book out on this)

#2) Cut the logo straight as normal and somehow install as if the sunken panel wasn't there and use heat to stretch the vinyl into place.

Either way I will need to paractice, but wanted to see how everyone was doing things like this.

I'm not sure if I understand what your asking

But for me I'd cut it straight then use referance points on the van to get the angle your looking for

Maybe this pic will help what I'm trying to ask.

Here is a sample of what I am trying to describe, Where the red arrows show the contour changes. How would you apply the decal without having wrinkles in vinyl and keeping the edges on the same straight line as it cross's the contours of the formed impressions.
