Contour cutting

Hi I was wondering if any one can outline to me how I contour cut?

I have a new cutter (cant remember what name) and for the life of me I have no idea what Im doing.

Can I use an jpeg and then create an outline or does it all need to be a vector? I am just a bit lost.

Any helps or links to where I can look would be great.

oh and i am using illustrator as well for the vectors.should i think about getting corel?

flexistarter with contour cutting feature is the easiest way to go.
