What Vinyl Cutter works with Linux?

Recommended Posts

I did some research on the web and it looks like it is possible to get most of the vinyl cutters to work under Linux. Do you think the HPGL is an imported feature a must have for Linux?

I'm looking to buy a entry level cutter for hobby use only. My main target is to cut shapes, numbers and letters as a learning tool for my kids. Is cardboard/thick stock paper a problem? Will this work for this application?

The price is also an important factor, it needs to be inexpensive or it's a deal breaker.

As software I think I will use mainly Inkscape and maybe Qcad.

If you have some information about any entry level device please let me know.

Here are some devices I'm looking at right now, is there another device I missed but I should look at?

Graphtec Craft ROBO

Graphtec / Quickutz Silhouette SD Craft Cutter

USCutter MH-series Vinyl Cutter 12"

From this selection, what is the best for me?

Thanks,

Markus
