CSDesigns 1 Posted July 30, 2010 im trying to vectorize this logo but need help...i tried just to do color trace on flexi but when i cut it on a large scale (2 ft.) the curves are not cleanly ... i need step by step instructions on how to vectorize it so i can learn
NukleoN 34 Posted July 30, 2010 Try to vectorize it with Inkscape, a free program: http://www.inkscape.org/ Just import your bitmap, use the 'trace bitmap' function once you select your image and trace it. Save that as an .SVG or .EPS and then import it into Flexi and try to cut a small version (to check the curves). When you get a nice cut on scrap, then you should be ok cutting the bigger version. CSDesigns 1 Posted July 30, 2010 to do the text i need to find similar text and type it again CORRECT
mark-s 1,126 Posted July 30, 2010 Yes u could use Arial Rounded for the text. I don`t use Flexi to do node editing just to vector with. In Flexi I found it best to color everything black. When u use the vector tool select BEZIER After node editing I Went from 24 nodes to 11 and everything looks like ur logo. Here take a look. mark-s CLEAR LOGO.ai CLEAR LOGO.ai

mark-s 1,126 Posted July 30, 2010 I use WinPCsign software for 90% of my designing, and node editing. Also use Flexi and Illustrator. Flexi has the best vectoring tool. In Flexi Capture the graphic go view click design central-click the 3 dots It`ll show u all the nodes, then with the other tools u can tweek em to what u want. mark-s
mark-s 1,126 Posted July 30, 2010 In PhotoShop change colors to black.(not the text) In Flexi vector using the Bezier tool. For me I export out of Flexi-import in to WinPCsign and node edit. Replace the text. Ur done. Thats how I do it. mark-s

rrc1962 0 Posted July 30, 2010 I used to use Flexi for tracing. I now use Illustrator. The trace quality is WAY better and node editing is very easy. I did the attached file in less than 10 minutes. I replaced all of the text with Arial Rounded. Another 10 minutes and I could have tweaked the trace on "CLEAR" but it's so close to Arial rounded. The logo is unedited. That exactly how Illy traced it. clear-retailer.zip clear-retailer.zip
