arty-rc 719 Posted April 1, 2010 I'm just starting out as a hobby cutter. I have been trying to cut a Cub Scout emblem for the wife. I found the emblem on line but after importing it to Sign Blazer and trying to cut I get the message that it contains a bitmap file and won't cut. I have the Inkscape "Guide to vector drawing program" but am having trouble figuring it out. I tried to change it to a jpeg with my photo program but SB still won't let it cut(I get the same bitmap message). As you can see, I am 100% GREEN at cutting vinyl. Any help would be appreciated. Please respond in terms that a newbie would easily understand. Thanks.
jwalters69 0 Posted April 2, 2010 Just had the same question last week. watch this video. http://www.thomasandjayme.net/flashpresentation/2ndtry.htm there is a lot of good info on the educational forum. basic overview. 1. download inkscape (it's free, www.inkscape.org) 2. open file in inkscape 3. go to path 4. I think it was outline 5. Important step - click and drag top layer off of graphics and it should leave the cuttable layer 6. Save as a .eps file 7. open in signblazer 8. hit cut again the video is important (note it did have any sound) Jim
arty-rc 719 Posted April 3, 2010 Thanks for the info. I have viewed the video a few times and am trying to figure out the steps. The pointer moves too quick for these 63 year old eyes. I will be trying again later today. Arty
