Setting up a template???

Recommended Posts

I am trying to set up templates for my cars parts...Interior trim and exterior lenses. Any advice on how to do so? I tried freehanding vinyl over the parts and peeling them off, but b/c of the curves of some pieces, the vinyl won't sit flat (so I can scan the shape in).

Anyone do this or have any ideas/pinters?

If you are tying to convert your interior car parts to a flat print. I use 1/8 inch grid graph paper and lay it on the part and cut around the part. On complex parts i will cut small holes in the area of the larger part and put masking tape over the holes to hold the paper in place while i do the details. Hope this helps.

Have you tried doing the same thing with construction paper?

Paper doesn't conform to the curves...
